Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet

Apparently they just searched it. A week in and they finally got around to searching?

It's Malaysia, they quite literally are in over their heads with this as evidenced by the last 9 days.

I saw on Fox yesterday that if you overlay that path it lines up with international air corridors except for crossing the land and that little short leg. The short leg put it back on path.

Yeah, they were using navigational waypoints. The person(s?) who took this plane was no idiot. They knew exactly what they were doing, they knew exactly where they were going, they knew exactly how much fuel they had left and what the planes distance limits were based on that fuel. I can almost guarantee you this plane isn't in the south Indian Ocean like the media and everybody else keep saying.

Dink, when you get voted out of the VN Big Brother house, I've got an idea for another new game show, "The Toker's Wild".

CNN: Pilots being investigated, homes searched. The pilot had a flight simulator in his home.

Plane may have flown 7 hours.

Unless the hijackers/pilots did end up crashing it, then this plane will turn up again with a nuke. Bet on it.

Somethings to remember. If this plane crashed in the ocean its ULB (underwater locator beacon) will go off and transmit on a specific radio frequency for about a month or more. Aircraft also have one or two (or more ) ELT's (emergency locator transponder). I know they usually have one in the tail, not sure where else. With enough vibration, aka from a crash, a pin pops off and the beacon starts transmitting on a frequency. I think its 121.5/243.0. I don't know specific ranges of these but that's how they will eventually find the plane if it crashed if someone doesn't spot it first.

That is what is odd about this to me..no one has picked up those signals. Those frequencies are usually heavily monitored. Not spotting in on radar makes me think either Southeast/west Asia's radar coverage is awful or someone is being quiet about it..

Oh yeah the ELT/ULB are often inaccessible during flight..ie behind an aircraft panel on the tail or something. They do run on batteries and are supposed to be checked regularly so who knows if that's been done properly or not..

I don't get why someone would would steal a plane, fly it for 6-7 hours then ditch it in the ocean. I mean, the entire thesis is that whoever took it had to be experienced in flying the plane. So how would someone experienced then run out of gas in the middle of nowhere?

If it was stolen/hijacked it has to be on land somewhere. But if so why no word for 10 days ?

Given that scenario, the only logical thing would be that they are hiding the plane to prepare it for a terrorist attack somewhere down the road when the attention dies down. It wouldn't have to be a nuclear bomb to cause massive damage. They could losd it with nuclear waste material and crash it into NY City or another major city anywhere in the world and cause massive destruction. I think if it was a ransom attempt, I think we'd have heard something by now.

Looks like the pilot is some nut case that supports the opposition leader that was jailed for homosexuality just hours before the plane disappeared.

Also the wife and 3 kids of the pilot moved out of their home the day before.

But naw Burhead the piolt had nothing to do with it..right?

It took them 10 days to find this out about the pilot..why? PC blindness?

Link?

^ I have read the same article. Says pilot left trial of opposition leader convicted of sodomy incensed and then goes to the airport.

Dumb question, but how often are satellite images taken? Any chance that this plane could be tracked through satellite imagery? Not that I'd expect a satellite to randomly be watching Malaysia or the Indian Ocean.

Really a few hours behind microsoft flight simulator and a couple of googles and flying a plane isn't hard. Landing..that's a different story.
