Mitch Mustain...

a) it's the modesto press (nowhere near LA btw)

b) it's quoting a radio interview where i believe the kid said he wasn't sure if mustain was transfering

c) not sure why you'd want a guy who couldn't beat out a true freshman and a qb currently playing for the university of richmond.

You never know the circumstances behind the depth chart, I think we all know Poole would have been a better second string option than True Frosh BB last year, but the coach had promises to keep to his post signing day superstar. The kid has D1 experience.

a young steve spurrier won the acc at duke

Would be more impressive if he won the WAC at La Tech.

I don't know if you've ever looked at the layout of the conference but Louisiana is nowhere near Fresno State, San Jose State, Boise State, Idaho etc.

So not only would the traveling itself be ridiculous, but how do you sell La Tech to recruits?

Most kids aren't going to pick a team in the southeast just to travel half the season to the west coast.

Same can be said for a kid that wants to play on the west coast. They probably won't want to live in the southeast to do it.

Louisiana Tech is about the bottom of the barrel for coaching jobs. In my opinion anyways.

Add to the fact that it's in the WAC and they are a Tech school.

Good luck winning there. :p

One last thing that comes to mind and will add between Duke(ACC) vs LaTech(WAC).

Virginia Tech, Miami and Boston College weren't in the ACC when Spurrier coached Duke.

Clemson
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Maryland
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Virginia
Wake Forest

Those are eight teams he faced and there was no conference championship.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be difficult to at Duke... but Florida State was about the only competition probably and all it took was an 8-4 record and 6-1 conference record. Probably lost to Florida State :p

I really do thick it would be harder to coach at Louisiana Tech in the WAC than Duke when the conference was just 9 teams. 8-5 wasn't enough to win the WAC. Pretty close to Duke's 8-4 that was enough.

Forget all the haters....if true, this is nothing but GREAT news! It's essentially a one year "contract" that will do nothing but help the team and grow the two QB's that are in now!

Modesto is a known area to be anti-SC. California is a big state with many schools. Its possible for that paper to be anti-SC.

I read this article last night and I didn't see anywhere it said Malik was going to try to get Mustain to transfer. We need to be fostering our future QB this season, not allowing someone to play their senior season.

Ah I see. I stand corrected. I just saw that it was from CA and incorrectly assumed that they covered USC

I've read so many threads I can't remember where I saw it, but I think you have to have two years of eligibility left to transfer to SEC which I think Mustain does not have.

I'm not an expert but that's what I've heard.

Honestly, if I were him, I don't think I would transfer. You've got to pack up, leave your friends, and learn a whole new system in a matter of months. That doesn't sound fun to me, not to mention how close he is to graduating already.

What if you had a chance to be a decent starter maybe get drafted and atleast make 400,000 a year holding a clipboard. Would you suck up the next ten months?
