Mitch Mustain...

I really can't tell, how many times has the same article been posted and merged into this thread? I mean I can smell the carbon monoxide from all this traffic.

I can't think of a better traffic jam than this right now except for the forthcoming meltdown from getting Tyron Smith on Friday.

this would be ideal. it would allow bray to redshirt. then next year, you have an open 3 or 4 way competition for the starting job between bray, nance, worley and brissett if he were to come here. i have to think one of those 4 would be able to get the job done.

Do. Not. Want. Granted he's talented, but I think it's too much risk to bring in a one year player that has to learn a new play book, new terminology, and new personnel. A large percentage of the passing game is predicated on timing. We have a couple of guys on campus right now working with the receivers on that very thing. Bringing in a one year QB that hasn't played in 3 years this close to fall practice would be a bad decision imo. I really don't want to sound like eric, but if you bring this guy in to be your starter then that will mess with team chemistry. And let's be honest, Mustain isn't leaving USC for the "chance to compete" for the starting job. He's not leaving without a guarantee.

So they would have to sit out? I have posted the question on two different threads with no response. Everyone seems to think Mustain could transfer to a D-1 school and play immediately and I don't see how that's possible.
Part of the deal the ncaa made was any junior or senior could transfer without sitting out a year.

except conf have other limitations. They would sit out a year if transferring within the Pac-10 and a Sr would need to get a waiver to play in the SEC

Listen everyone!!! Athletes with only 1 year of eligibility left can only transfer to a SEC school if they have already graduated...so they would have to be a grad student i.e. (Todd Campbell to MTSU) This is a SEC rule. SO Mustain cannot play in the SEC unless he has graduated which he has not.

He can appeal and would likely get a waiver since Slive hates Kiffin.

Can they really appeal. Clay Travis was pretty adamant today on the radio that he couldn't play in the SEC.

He has a chance to go to a team in dire need of a proven QB. If he came here, he would be the likely starter. Say he give us maybe 2 extra wins, and we go 8 -4 instead of say 6 - 6. He's a hero, gets plenty of exposure, and a good deal of credit for a real turnaround when not much is expected from us. It is a risk, but a real opportunity if he has the talent. Would truly be in the spotlight by coming here. All kinds of story lines for the media to write and talk about.

Problem is, if he decided to leave and try to win an appeal from the SEC then he is screwed if he doesn't get it. Kiffin isn't going to let him come back to USC. I guess he could try transferring some where else. Now, if he is determined to leave USC regardless, then I guess it would be worth a shot to him.
