So they would have to sit out? I have posted the question on two different threads with no response. Everyone seems to think Mustain could transfer to a D-1 school and play immediately and I don't see how that's possible.
Why is that? Is there a rule that if a school gets put on probation that a kid can transfer and play immediately if he is a Junior or Senior?
To add to this, the player does not have to have a release from the school he is transferring from, but I do think that whatever school contacts him about a possible transfer, has to go through the COI for permission. At least thats how I read the guidelines.According to 'AA bylaws, the COI can grant a waiver to allow players to transfer and play if the ban is for the rest of their eligibility, which would, in this case, mean JR's and SR's.
Are you talking about De'Anthony Thomas? Rivals still show him as a solid verbal as of now. If true, I bet he won't be the only one to pull his commitment when it is all said and done.
Do we really even have any scholarships left for 2010 if we wanted to grab some of these guys from USC to play this year? I was under the assumption we only had one left. Who would we take, a QB, OL or DL? Honestly I think if we could add another OL to protect the QBs we have, Simms and Bray could get the job done for us this year. JMO.
I dont think Tennessee is anywhere near the 85 scholarship limit.
They only have 1 scholarship left for the 2010 signing class, but I dont think transfers have any bearing on that, just the 85 limit.
If you are correct, this could be absolutely huge for us. Probably not to many big time schools around the country are as low on scholarships as we are. This could seriously impact our 2010 season and get us back up to speed a lot quicker.
pretty delusional to assume a bunch of Trojans are going to defect. They have spent 2 and 3 years loving the program and aren't just going to bail on that. Some may leave, but they'll be the most disgruntled, which means they were likely bench heaters who believed they deserved better, but were probably wrong.

I'm not saying we will make up the rest of our 85 scholarships with Trojans. However, if grabbing 2 or 3 at much needed positions is a possibility, that would be huge. BTW, I would take a few USC bench heaters over true freshman for this year.
