They could add depth if nothing else. We have nothing to lose in this case being 10 scholarships below our allowance. If they are better than our youth and win the job, then yes, they absolutely could help us win.

I agree. There is really no difference here. I would actually rather have a couple USC bench heaters that have practiced against their starters for a few years than a Juco guy. To say it would hurt our youth's experience when we are down 10 scholarship players and are really lacking depth at key positions makes no sense to me.

Again, think about the mentality of those who would transfer in a case like this. First, there will be very few and those that will are going to tend to be locker room disasters or think far more of their ability than they should.

I tend to agree with you on these kids potentially not being the type you want around the program when we're undertaking a pretty big overhaul, but when it comes to our new additions to the OL, outside of James maybe, a RS might be a lot more beneficial than experience.

Mustain, 2 OL's and a DT would be all we could hope for. A RB would be nice, too. I just don't know if CDD is going to actively pursue any of the potential transfers. Might not be a part of sticking to "the plan." If I had to bet, I'd say we probably don't get any of them, but I hope I'm wrong. However, if they want a chance of starting right away, we should be a school they would at least look at. More than going to a National Championship contender, I think most would want a chance to start this year at a big school, in a great conference.

To add to this, the player does not have to have a release from the school he is transferring from, but I do think that whatever school contacts him about a possible transfer, has to go through the COI for permission. At least thats how I read the guidelines.

Normally true, but not after a post-season ban like this. Anyone affected (Jr/Sr in this case) can be recuruited by another school without needing USC's permission, all that must be done is notification. The rule specifically says that USC (in this case) can impose 'reasonable' limitations, like you can't drag them out of class for recruiting contact, but no permission is needed.
