'24 MO WR Ryan Wingo (Texas commit)

Here is my speculation for why he doesn't go Mizzou

1. He has gone out of his way to visit Tennessee on more than one occasion.

2. From all indications, his recruitment is going the distance, so he wouldn't be getting NIL an earlier than January anyway.

3. Unlike Nwaneri, Wingo plays a position where he needs someone else to succeed. Nwaneri can pop on film with a bad unit around him. Wingo needs a good quarterback in system to put out NFL film.

Kid sounds put together since he’s taking his time to make a decision after his senior season. My guess is he wants to see Mizzou, Texas and Tennessee play another season to see how the offenses fair and what the receiver involvement looks like.

As it stands his best situation for QBs definitely comes down to us or Texas. Both have freshmen studs who will be throwing him the ball as sophomores/juniors. I still think Nico in our offense is going to be more productive than Arch could be at Texas plus Texas is deeper in the QB room. It’s all but certain Nico is our guy in the 2024 season. After Ewers leaves Texas will have a true QB battle. So as far as stability goes Tennessee has the edge knowing who will be spinning the ball after Milton. Plus Nico will get game reps this year in blow outs and Arch may never see a down.

Point #2 is close but I don't think it's exactly that. It's more than, unlike Nwaneri, who won't enroll until May 2024, Wingo is an EE. Therefore the fact that he can start being paid in January in MO isn't a differentiating factor for Mizzou vs. other schools like it was with Nwaneri.

IMO Texas can't be discounted in this recruitment. They've got a tremendous class and also have star power at QB.

Do you know how much interaction is going on between him and our squad and current commits? Seems like connected folks have shared that on lots of our high profile additions. Like maybe they are triggered by staff to sustain or push us over the top.

I doubt this kid goes to Mizzou. Completely different situation that Williams

Sorry to be there bearer of bad news, but prepare yourself to be disappointed. There is a lot of local chatter that he is moving up his commitment date...for obvious reasons. That can only favor the home state school.

Really? Why is that? Missouri is going to get beat down this year. I'm guessing 7-6 with a win against Missouri State in the Mustard or Mayonnaise Hot Dog Bowl.

If he’s moving his date up it’s to get on the instate payroll for Missouri would be the logic. Not sure if that happens but it is interesting.

Nah.. Committing means nothing until he signs.. if he's an EE it really doesn't matter. Any clue if Wingo is an EE? But like will Nwaneri, if NIL is the only reason he signs with a school, we don't want him anyway.

These are kids. They are also kids who don't seem to have someone to guide them about long term financial ramifications(at least WN). I'm sure this is their general mindset....I can get paid right now to go to Missouri, but if things don't work out then I can transfer and my stock will only increase. There doesn't seem to be anyone to point out the potential pitfalls of this immediate cash grab. We live in a microwave/air fryer world now, so it may not matter anyway. The younger generations tend to be more about entitlement and instant gratification.
I’m sure they feel like they’re God’s gift to the world and that everyone will always want them (understandably so). But I still think about Eyabi Anoma who was also the #3 overall recruit and he’s on school #4 I think because he’s made awful decisions and the people around him are useless. Kid will be lucky to even get a NFL training camp look. The longterm effects of taking the short term money grab…

Waiting a couple of months to get as much or more money, along with getting to play for a better team and increase chances of making it to the NFL should be a no-brainer to all but the most impulsive. And impulsive kids are the ones most likely to get into trouble while in college, or to cause problems in the locker room. So as things stand now, it is not something which is entirely in Missouri's favor.

Missouri = the payday lender of the SEC

24/7 is showing he’s cooled on us and it’s between Georgia, Mizzou, and Texas. Which is odd because I read post last month that Georgia’s mod said they’re not getting him and On3’s mods saying it’s a 3 ways battle between Mizzou, Texas and us 🤔

I have never seen a warm, warm, or warmer prediction change on a recruit ever.

They don't even bother to update them and will have recruiting whiparounds with top recruits where the recruits aren't talking to those "warm" schools anymore.

I'm pretty sure they upload these right after junior tape comes out in the spring and then it's never touched.

Crystal balls are a better indicator.

definitely seems like Missouri is the team here now. Let’s see how it plays out the next few weeks.

Sheesh. Getting NIL 4 months early for him is really that big of a deal? He’s an EE. That’s so dumb. No way he amounts to anything with that putrid offense they run there.

I can understand the Nwaneri commitment since he isn’t enrolling till May/June 2024. But Wingo being an EE and getting on campus in December means he’s getting the money a few months early and is that really all it takes? I mean I guess so. Moral of the story starting to look like don’t waste your time recruiting players from the state of Missouri in football.
