It remains to be seen how bUTch will build on it ..he has a good starting point with #2 class coming in...

8-4 next season (9-3 best case scenario)..

5 - 7 season next year. (wins) Utah State, Arkansas State, Chattanooga, Kentucky & Ole Miss.

(Loses) Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, UGA, USC, Vandy, & Missouri..


Too many freshmen starting next season....

New Offensive line & new defensive line.

Still have no real depth.

Q.B. may NOT improved much over the summer.

Would you take 6-6 and a bowl with a #20 ranked class of 17 player coming in or 5-7 with 34 players coming in with a #2 class that doesn't even measure past the first 20?

Honest question. If those are hour choices, do you take a loss now for 17 more players and the future? Just posing it.

What does your comments have ANYTHING to do with the OP's post! If you are really a Vol fan, your appreciation for what these players did considering the talent and strength of schedule this year is beyond pathetic! You win the prize foe the NEGAVOL of the day!

His point was that this was not a moderately successful season. It was one of the worst seasons, and very nearly a season with the most losses, ever.

Could've had 6-6 with a bowl and the 34 players/ #2 class.

No venom. But by definition a "few good games and lots of bad ones" is subpar... not "moderately successful".

UGA... was not a top 10 team when they faced UT or at any point after.

That.... is just sad. You don't have to hate Jones to question him... and you don't have to deny that this was a subpar season to support him.

He and his staff will have to coach MUCH better for things to improve regardless of how well they recruit. Recruiting helps but it is only part of the equation.

OK. Maybe you will have an answer that helps me believe too. Can you give a well thought out argument demonstrating that this staff is up to the challenge of the SEC? I didn't see it. One game isn't enough and especially when there were also historic lows.

Wasn't an option. Just saying it could be worse for our future, even with a bowl win.
Hey, we had a better record against top 10 teams than tx a & m and the heisman winner. Maybe even top 20. How about that spin.

Are you freakin kidding me!!! What an Excuse-o-Rama !!! This season sucked big time. Butch had one main goal this year, to finish at least 6-6 and make the post season. He failed miserably on the field. (At least he's recruiting well) This season had one highlight and one only, and that was one incredibly LUCKY win against S. Car. Butch failed to inspire Team 117 to play any better than Team 116, 115, or 114, all of which were losing teams that regularly got blown out. Next year better show at least some noticeable improvement, or Butchy needs to be given his walking papers.
