So this is what it's like to be a Mississippi State fan, huh?

I guess if you praise failure and mediocrity then you are bound to get what you deserve.

Bingo !!! It's amazing just how much of our fan base is willing to accept a total pile of crap and call it "successful".

One game isn't enough and especially when there were also historic lows.

And one season isn't enough to judge this coaching staff, with a team full of subpar sec talent and lacking in depth and speed that's not used to winning and usually gave up in the face slight adversity, this team had a lot to over come.

After next season we will have a better idea of how this coaching staff is going to work out.

It is nice to go out by winning the final game. It's going to be hard to wait till national signing day.

I've been called a negavol and a sunshine pumper today. I think that means I'm doing it right.

There are some who will focus on the negative no matter what. I choice not to be miserable and focus on the positives and look forward to a bright future.

If I were as miserable with the Vols as some on here I would find a new team to cheer for. I would not spend 12 Saturdays of my year in misery the way they do.

Won't call it a success, but not a complete failure and there's plenty of positives for next year.

Top 5 BCS standings has 3 of our opponents in it. This was an incredibly tough schedule. Mix in brand new coaches, true freshman QB, and we lost 2 games by inches and I'll take it. No bowl game is a disappointment though after beating a ranked team earlier. This is a hard working HC and he'll do everything it takes to get better next year.

Please look at next years schedule and tell me where 9 wins are coming from. Anyone expecting 8-9 wins next year is in for a world of disappointment . I fully realize things can change but from where we are at right now I see 8 games next year that we're dogs in. On top of that Arkansas/Utah State are both the type of teams that if you mess around can beat you. We're far more likely to win 3-4 games then 8-9.

It's cool, I get it. Most fans are ok with losing season.

There is a huge difference in being ok with losing and ungerstanding why it happens. Its called rebuilding for a reason. I don't know if Coach Jones will win big here or not. I will give an opinion after next year.

What I do know to be fact is you won't be here to say you were wrong if he does win. Just like when you posted about ending my life then didn't show up for the tailgate at the Georgia game.

There is no way that I could ever consider a 5-7 season a success. It was a bad year with a few positives to cling to along the way. I've heard a million times the reasoning for the record, but the reasons shouldn't cloud your vision in determining between success and failure. The program made a few positive steps but missed out on a few as well.

There's nothing successful about losing, period.

You must be confused. Where did I say, or ever say, Jones won't win here? I think he will. I'm just not willing to call this season successful at all.

And I ain't going nowhere

Bottom line, the team had a goal and failed to meet it. By defination that makes the season a failure. Before the season began I thought 6 wins were possible with good coaching. All things considered we are right about where I thought we would be.

The exact same rationalization and "logic" was used in 2010 to argue that Dooley's first year was a "success" and that UT was "on the way back."

Remind me how that has turned out?

CBJ set a modest goal this year-- an attainable goal-- and failed to achieve it. There were a few positives here and there, but this was not a successful season on the field. Time to close the book on it and move on. Recruiting is the future.

I am disappointed in the season. It started with a blow out, with the team not playing as well as it should. Then came the QB foul up which went on too long against Florida, a game we could have won for a change. SC and GA were exciting games, and I thought we had a team, but that did not last. Opponents made the defense look sick. Worley's injury hurt, because the freshman just did not get it going until the very last game. The schedule turned out to be even harder than expected, but that does not excuse our own performance. Team 117 should have played better than it did in most games. Does that mean that I am down on the coaches? No. Jones has abilities with intangibles which kept a spirit alive among the players, even in defeat. There were a number of individual success stories. Palardy went from goat to hero, and I think the entire team will do that over time. Jones performs on a very high level, and he will not stop. So disappointed does not mean that I am discouraged. There is concern, but I just do not think Jones is a stay down kind of coach, even against the toughest competition in the country.

The New Younger Generation Vol Fan Base knows of nothing but failure, it's the new norm, unfortunately
