More heart than I have seen in 15 years

I am encouraged. The team led the nation in player defections last year and it is playing a veteran team with a very experienced quarterback. They could have won-wrong quarterback started, a bad spot for a crucial first down, too many penalties, and no running game as RBs are hurt. Still, a much better team to watch than many in recent years.

Unhappy that we lost, but 100% agree. This football team looks so much better than last season!

We don't have depth. We don't have a great QB. But we played a very good football team (with a QB who could be on an NFL roster right now) with heart and energy. This is a totally different team and I'm buying into Heupel more and more.

Seems like Pitt had a bunch of super seniors and other upperclassmen beside the (quarterback) with a ton of experience.

It was an issue in 2017, and from the 2nd half of the Kentucky game on last season. Having said that, the most important issues are instability and horrific play from the quarterback position.

Yeah, I'm regretting saying "never been the issue" because that's what people are attacking. Heart was definitely an issue once the coaches lost their teams, sure, I acknowledge that. But I think I've seen a lot of teams with a lot of heart in a lot of big games over the last 15 years. I don't feel like today was that much different than some of those other big games.

Just cheer for them. I know a lot of Dawgs fans. They’re an ok group. No pressure as a fan base, no real aggravation, some bragging rights…. Definitely a team for the weak hearted to cheer for.

You first I'm not going there. That's what we should be doing against inferior opponents. I don't GAF about some veteran QB from the ACC. What I'm saying is why the F is is so difficult to get even a half serviceable QB into this program??? I don't even know why people are even somewhat excited about Hooker. If Bailey sucks we are truly lost.

We are all supporting them. But it’s the same thing year, after year, after year, after year. I am proud of them but we suck.
We don’t “suck”. No real fan can look at this game and say we suck. We’re not as good as we would like to be, but the defense is better and the overall team & play is better than last year. If you’re gonna be that negative about the team, why even be a so called fan. Go root for somebody else.

I’m no expert but I’d say most any qb with talent enough to get to the NFL would choose a stable program to ensure getting there. “This program” is far from a sure thing at the moment given the coaching carousel and recruiting violations. We’ve had qbs that look great on paper but weren’t developed. JH had to go to the portal to find a qb and I’m guessing there wasn’t many options willing to risk it on the program.

I saw more heart and more coaching competence than I’ve seen since Kiffin was coach. Hate the outcome but I feel hope for some reason. I felt absolutely no hope when Pruitt was at the helm. I’m excited about the future.
That mirrors my perception as well.. They made a good game out of it for a new team under a new coach. The penalties can be corrected and if we get a healthy team back, I see a better season than the last few years. And the QB has to be able to hit wide open receivers--- gotta fix that.

These players kept the fight for 60 minutes, lack of execution though is what lost the game. Have to get better.

I bet the end result is much different when we play them next year. They will lose their QB and some other seniors, and our young guys will just keep getting better the more reps they get.

I dunno man…that 2016 team had a ton of heart (no Butch Jones pun intended) minus the Vandy game. I like the 2007 team too that nearly knocked off eventual NC LSU in the SEC championship game.

I have a hard time remembering a guy missing so many open receivers on deep balls in a game, that he did in less than a half.
He’s terrible in game no doubt. He will lose Heupel his job if he sticks with him. Potential is the only thing they see in practice.
