Most embarrassing thing about today

Some of you girls sure get your panties in a twist easily.

I'm not emotional, I don't drink, I'm not jumping ship, I've been a consistent fan longer than some of you have been alive, I expect CBJ to do great things in the long-term, I do not expect us to win 9-10 games this season (hoping for 6), I do expect our very young players to get exposed a few times, I had no illlusions of winning the game today.

I DID expect our oline to push people around, and they didn't do it. I expect holes so freaking big that even Rajion will run through them. It didn't happen. I don't give a crap that Oregon is as good as they are, I still expected that to be the one redeeming thing we did today. Did not happen, period. And with all the crowing about our offensive line that has gone on, I see it as a major embarrassment. If you don't agree, sue me. But grow a pair and get some thicker skin.

I agree with those of you raising points about the option. Even in high school we learned on an option you have to be close enough to the defender that you're reading them and they're not reading you, and our option does seem to be very deep in the backfield. And, yes, option isn't really an option if the QB never keeps it. I would _love_ to have seen some I-formation, smash mouth football today.

I I I I I I I agree. Also, I think the o-line would look much better if you have two backs running a conventional offense.

My comment about jumping ship wasn't directed at your post.

Could be that the qb is a full sec late with the read and hand off. By the time the tail back gets the ball he should be 2 steps in the hole. The line made holes. We just didn't get to them while they were open

If you watch the first 2 games you can see that timing is off on his throws as well.

You know, I'm sick of hearing this, no one is jumping ship. Most of us just will not accept a loss this bad and go on. Its not ok.

This is the worst loss since 1905 when we lost to Georgia Tech.

But the kool aid drinkers will say its OK to embarrass yourselves n university in front of the country but give him 3 years with a year zero..

Bottom line what u saw today was the same we saw with dools.. bad game plan..bad play calling n bad adjustments...so chill vn its OK...lol

If Fla smokes us all bets r off

So you're not gonna accept this loss? What does that mean?

Or...maybe we aren't very good?

Is it possible that the disastrous coaching changes, recruiting failures, and player attrition over the past 5 years have reared their ugly heads and earned us an arse-spanking by a National Championship contender?

The idea that we have a dominant oline is quite frankly a joke. Good pass blockers, that's it. We got no consistent push, even against a freaking 3 man front. Feel bad for Worley, but he just isn't big-time. Offensive scheme gives me no confidence - never had a clue what Oregon was going to do, they seemed to have no problem figuring out what we were going to do. Going to be a long season.

When all the defense has to do is make the QB beat you and your QB is terrible it doesn't take brain surgery to figure out the rest.

The most embarrassing thing about today is how quickly our so called fans jump ship. Good Lord.

Offering up one's honest critique is jumping ship? I guess in your world you're one of those "true" Vol fans whereas anyone willing to speak up and give an opinion is not really a fan. Pathetic. And the same applies to those who liked your comment. If you're unwilling to step forward and speak to what's broken, it never gets fixed.

I expected we'd lose this game. Oregon is just a better team. They have speed and depth and lots of talent. I really hoped we wouldn't lose so embarassingly.

That said, my two major critiques for the game are why did we keep punting and when are the coaches going to address Worley's poor play? Oregon's O was already running all over us. I knew we didn't have the defensive depth to keep up. So why did Butch continue to punt? When you're down on the road against the second ranked team in the nation, why not go for it on fourth? I didn't like those play calls. And Worley, I feel bad for the kid, but he is the worst passer I've seen in awhile. I'm not sure he could hit the broadside of a barn. At some point, you put in another QB and pray he does better. I hate to say this of any player, but for the sake of the team, Worley needs to be benched. He has not looked good this year, even against the inferior talent. Time for someone else to get a chance.

Simms, Clausen and Crompton would like a duel..

I think all three could beat out Worley based on these first three games. I'm not trying to bash him, but he's underthrown at least 95% of his passes.

Could it be the play calling is conservative due to the fact Worley has no arm, average mobility and isn't going to wow anyone with his Peyton Manning like reads? Our O-line is very good but Oregon consistently overloaded the box and busted the gaps because they had no respect for Worley.

The program's decline didn't happen overnight. The rise will not happen overnight. It was a loss to a far superior team. Hit reset and prepare for Florida.

Oh, I get it. You are saying the coaches and everyone else connected to the athletic department should come on here to learn from us how to improve the team.

I think he's saying it's okay to be pissed that we just got humiliated on national television, again.

59-14. Just wtf were some of you expecting the fan base's reaction to be?

Most were expecting to lose, myself included, but good lord. I've never seen so many people try to defend a 59-14 thrashing in my entire life.

I don't think we run a read option offense. It's a shotgun/pro-style offense with a show of read option. I was unable to watch the whole game today because of family obligations but I've watched every snap of the last two. Worley, I don't think, ever keep it in those games (and i didnt see any in my limited view today) and if he did it was very few since he only has 20 yds rushing. I think it was Ware last week said that Tenn' offense couldn't be considered a read option because Worley kept it every time. What concerns me the most is the secondary play. 350+ yards passing given up at halftime. That's sunseri-like.

With that said, we played the team with probably the most overall team speed in the country and we don't have near the athletes on either side of the ball. Dooley didn't leave the cupboard totally bare but he did when it comes to experience at skill positions. We will take our lumps this year but next year and then 2015 and 2016 is when we will see the difference.

Whenever Butch realizes that, whether they are ready or not, Peterman, Dobbs, or Fergie deserve a chance, our offensive look will change. Worley limits us greatly right now and that's not me hating on him because I know the most popular QB on a team that struggles offensively is the backup, but, when announcers start talking about it multiple weeks, your eyes are not decieving you. bUTch gets it so I don't expect our offense to be this bad for too much longer.

Having 4 HFC's in 5 years will set any program back a long way. See Alabama prior to Nicktator.

We kept running the read option looking crap without having a QB that can run? We tried running outside against a speed team. We could have pushed them had we run down their throats. But with no passing game whatsoever, and the idiotic decision to push the outside running game... well.. Im no coach but a lot of things should have been done differently.

I agree. Get your resume to Hart immediately! :) Seriously, I do agree and can't for the life of me figure out why CBJ is staying with Worley. Peterman looked loads better when he came in and at least he can run a little. I'm ready to burn some red shirts, turn the page, and bring in Ferg and Dobbs. Let them take their lumps and get ready for 2014.
