Another underrated player in college that comes to mind is Eddie Moore, of course he was overrated by the Dolphins at where they drafted him

EMO II has had the injury bug. Eddie Moore can play football.

Probably the bst ever at UT at his position.
Thats still not saying alot! He didn't have to try too hard to accomplish that feat!

Reggie Harper was very, very good.

Maybe not the most overrated as a Vol, but when being recruited out of high school, he was hyped up to be the next big thing to come to Tennessee, and that is Jabari Davis, aka Jtrain. I remember on signing day, he was pretty much the front page of the sports page and had a big write up about him. He never panned out to anything. Only time he was brought in during his career was when we were inside the 5.

So maybe the "Jtrain" is one of the most overrated Vols? :dunno:

J davis and Ced Houston. Fulmer was quoted as saying that J Davis was better than Carnel Williams when he changed his mind to go to Auburn over the Vols. Perhaps to save face. J davis and Ced Houston were highly rated in the same class and they were poised to do great things after Travis stephens left by the media.

J davis was nothing more than a short yardage back who 2 best games were against Florida and Ced Houtson would seem to start out strong in the season and fizzle to nagging injuries. For their hype UT had one of the worst running games in the SEC during that 4 years.

Everyone is knocking Meachem, but remember he hurt his ankle last year in the first game, and you have to remember he still has two years to progress.

His ankle isn't his problem. It's his hands or lack thereof. To-date this guy has been by far the most overhyped wide receiver to go to UT in at least the last thirty years.

when i started this thread i didn't consider what players did in the nfl, i'm just referring to what they did at ut. A good example would be dale jones; possibly the most beloved player to ever play at ut, but not the best nfl player, since he did not play there as far as i know. i know carl pickens was a great player, but in the clutch against top teams he was mr. butterfingers.
OKAY BUDDY
I UNDERSTAND
and besides Rick isnt even in the nfl

I think he's got a long way to go before he gets anywhere close to that. Granted, at least you qualified it with a "To date", but let's see him get in a year where he isn't either injured or a Freshman before we start talking like that.

I qualified with the "to-date" because I realize the guy still has two full seasons in which to become a star at UT, and he may actually end up doing that. However, all of you that talk about this guy like he's an absolute stud wide receiver baffle me. So far, he's been nothing but a waste of supposedly phenomenal potential. If he wants to become a star in college and move on to play in the NFL, all of that potential is going to have to be converted into some actual production in some REAL games at some point. I'm not one to label a player a star based off of potential. I want to see production.
