Movies you've seen recently II

No Sudden Moves 7/10 amazing cast of a 1950s film noir style. sodenberg is a helluva director. Slows down towards the end but still enjoyable.

Slow West is a pretty solid western with Fassbender. It explores the lost art of the 84-minute film. $5 purchase on Vudu this weekend
I'll check that one out..I recently watched Frank with Fassbender where he wore a fake head almost the entire film...he's really good

watched a few over the last few weeks that I've been meaning to watch for a while:

the purge
boondock saints
lords of dogtown
independence day: resurgence (4th of july weekend)

and also gunpowder milkshake since I saw that mentioned a few times in this thread

A Quiet Place II - 8/10. The tension was there the whole movie. We had to pause a few times just to break the ice lol. Really good. There were a few things that made me question why they did them that way (I don't want to give anything away so speaking in generalities) or why not just do this instead of that. It almost seemed like they wanted to do certain things in the most complicated way possible to amp up the anxiety.

Overall, very good film.

Wife loves Asian dramas so every once in a while I'll do the compromise thing and watch something foreign which I'm not generally a subtitles guy....that said Monster Hunt 2015 was a really fun visually outstanding movie and really had a good story...think I read its one of the top grossing films ever in China...not for everyone but I laughed quite a bit...worse ways to spend 2 hours 7.5/10 https://m.imdb.com/title/tt3781476/

Surprised my chick flick/British drama loving wife picked out Gunpowder Milkshake…much less enjoyed it. Not her usual. Said she liked it for campiness.

Blackthorn 2011 https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1629705/
An aging Butch Cassidy (Sam Shepard) makes the tough decision to leave Bolivia and return to the US to meet his nephew. A Spaniard on the run (Eduardo Noriega) and ex lawman (Stephen Rea) complicate his journey. Well made western that would have been good even without the Cassidy backstory imo. Beautiful cinematography in Bolivia. 7.5/10

Just finished it.

9/10 thought it was better than the first one, which we just rewatched yesterday. It was 1 hr 40 minutes that felt like 45 minutes. I agree though I thought they could have gone a couple different directions with
The island, the radio station, and the fact they learn the monsters can't swim
but overall it was great.

Also I got major "Lost" vibes
when they finally reached the island and the people were just living normal lives like nothing had happened, which was great nostalgia.

The new Space Jam Sham

2/10

Worst movie I've seen all year. Essentially a 2 hour cringe fest with as many Warner bros owned cameos as they could possibly fit in there.

Black Widow 6/10.

Not the best Marvel movie but it does connect Natasha Romanoff's past and Black Widow's future.

Stick around for the post credit scene!
