Movies you've seen recently II

Silent Night. Not sure how to describe it, but I'd just skip it. 3/10 is being generous.
At first I thought you were talking about a classic slasher but then I noticed they have a new one. I’ll watch it as I love dark comedy and thrillers

nocturnal Animals
Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo Amy Adams
good story, even people with minor parts were excellent actors, a good combination.
I’d give this a 8.5/10 although I’d recommend skipping the first 3 minutes unless your in to seeing undressed dancing Alabama women. It made me rethink whether driving unarmed is wise or not. The detective played by Michael Shannon was a great role.

The Power of the Dog 9/10 what a damn good freaky western.
This one struck me different. Had a bit of the Daniel Day Lewis There Will be Blood vibe to it without as much plot line to work with. Moved too slow for me although I agree the acting was excellent and good New Zealand scenery. 7/10

You probably piqued the interest of many gents here who will not enjoy this movie one bit ; )
Hmmm, I signed up for Netflix today so I could watch this movie tonight. If it's a crummy movie I'll blame bignewt.
Actually a fan of Cumberbatch, and want to watch several shows on Netflix. i.e. Peaky Blinders. I've been using Prime, but meaning to get Netflix for a while.
I'll give my opinion of the movie.

Think Brokeback Mountain meets Citizen Kane

Think Brokeback Mountain meets Citizen Kane
A somewhat slow film about the sadness of life. 6.5-7
We spent about a week in NZ a few years ago, and it was nice to see the land again. At the time I just found it different. The roads looked like the ones in this movie, narrow two lanes on hillsides. Christchurch had a devastating earthquake a few years earlier, and they left several structures as they were so people would not forget.

That's one interpretation (that you may want to put spoiler tags on)
I don't usually care for movies that leave many things unclear. That seems kind of trendy right now or maybe my ability to understand everything that is happening is diminishing(possible). Or my mind drifted from boredom as the movie was slow in parts.
It's possible that it is not intentional, but some of the people making movies are not very good communicators?

I think this was intentional but I also think you are right about your theory and that they wanted us to interpret it that way.

I hate when stuff is vague for the sake of adding empty depth to a movie, but in this case

I think the lack of clarity is a nod to how slick Peter is. Did Peter kill his Dad?

"When my father passed i wanted nothing more than my mother's happiness. What kind of son would I be if I did not help my mother?"

NHuffines had the same thought.

I hadn't thought of that.

I thought Power of the Dog was definitely worth a watch, but I wouldn't call it entertaining and I probably wouldn't rewatch it.
