Movies you've seen recently II

Watched it quit a while back. Thought it was excellent. RT and I have slightly different criteria when it comes to what makes a good movie. They likely have people that can appreciate more aspects of a movie I can.

The Rotten Tomatos scale just needs to be interpreted properly. You see 98% and you think it means it's "better" than an 80%. These are not scored ratings like IMDB. It just means 98% of critics gave it a positive review. The Prestige might be a more entertaining movie but it's only got a 76% because of writing holes that critics (and me too) hate. If they weighted how much they liked it, it might put those two in a different order.

Ah! Thanks!

I just watched "Dont Look Up" on Netflix. Absolutely great movie! I loved it! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Another one I watched recently is "The Survivors" starring Walter Mathau and Robin Williams. Its been ages since I saw that movie and forgot how much fun it is.

Uncharted - 7.5/10

If you love the games, it doesn’t follow the same story arc. But it’s a great film setting up a better sequel. Also, Mark Wahlburg makes a better Sully than I expected.

Just watched Dune and really enjoyed it. Just an absolutely stunning movie visually.

I'm gonna buy the book series, read all the books, and re-watch the movie after I've read all of them.

I just saw it too and I really enjoyed it! 7/10. It was really a pleasant surprise. I knew nothing about the game going in.

Dune was one of my favorite movies of 2021. Like you said, visually, it was terrific. I like that they split it into two movies. It's less crammed and much less weird than the original.

I saw it as well and there's just no good way to get that story correctly into one movie. Looking forward to the next installment and hope they keep going.*

*One wonders if the reception to the original story will bring more movie sequels or go off into more episodic TV like GOT.

I hope it brings more movies but it all boils down to money. The latest Dune needed to be seen at the theater.

The King's Man. 4/10.

Too long and tried to do too much for what it is. Took me 3 different sit downs from start to when I finally finished it a couple days later.

My 14 year old dragged me to see this on Monday and I was pleasantly surprised. I knew nothing about the story but really enjoyed it.

Dune was very good. Only movie from 2021 that I liked more was Nightmare Alley

American Underdog. Hard not to really be impressed with Kurt Warner after watching that. Very good story, gotta love it.

Watched Free Guy yesterday

Predictable story line with a predictable ending. Still a fun movie if you’re in the mood for something easy to watch.

Last night I randomly watched the live action Beauty and the Beast (2017) - 4/5

I remember watching it in theater. Really liked the "Be our guest" sequence. Still haven't seen the live action Lion King or Jungle Book yet.

The Edge of Seventeen, 9.5
Top of my list for coming of age movies. Serious but funny. Woody Harrelson is perfect. Best lines ever. Some say ad lib.
Most of these movies for teenagers are really crummy imo. This is an exception.
