Movies you've seen recently II

I tried to rewatch The Beastmaster, as I loved it as a kid. I couldn't make it past 15 minutes until I turned it off.

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once 7.5/10.

It’s really hard to describe.🤔
It’s chaotic, endearing, funny, and I’ve never quite seen another movie quite like it. Go see it!

Everything, Everywhere, All at Once 7/10

Unbearable Weight of a Massive Talent 8/10
- Nic ****ing Cage is back!

Doctor strange in the multiverse of madness: 7/10
There are some things I really liked, some things not so much. Sam raimis horror side definitely comes out some in this. There’s a few scenes/lines I found kind of cheesy, overall I liked it though. Worth watching, but don’t go in expecting too too much.

Borg vs McEnroe on HBO Max. Always wanted to get around to watching it. I remember the Wimbeldon final when I was a kid and the movie was a fun trip back to that nostalgia.

Everything Everywhere All at Once 10/10

What a friggin' beautiful, original, fun, unforgettable, touching film. Movies like this keeps my faith that there are still good stories to tell and not remakes and superhero reboots. When you find out that only four people did the special effects its mind blowing. Actors are all amazing, the movie is over two hours but you never feel it. If you get a chance while its still in the theater run now. Opt for it other than the other multi-verse marvel crap. You will be glad you did. There are scenes I want to rewatch, slow down and watch again just so I can get all of it. Just stunning.

I listened to the recent Rewatchables pod about ET and it made me change my mind about it. I remember loving ET when I was really little, but by the age of 12, I thought it was boring and that has been my lasting feeling about it. The pod had me jazzed to show it to my almost 4-year-old. We watched it last night and it was legitimate movie magic. We had to pause it in the middle to check the backyard and the closet for ET.

I went into my yet to watch collection and went with...

The Meg (2018) - 3.5/5.

I really enjoyed it. Solid/likable cast except for Rainn Wilson. Been nice to have got more out of Masi Oka's character. I hadn't seen him in anything since NBC's Heroes.

Wrath Of Man - Very well done action/drama. Guy Ritchie makes for an interesting director. For a Jason Statham film I could have used some more one on one action from him.
I watched it the other night, and enjoyed it.

Top Gun: Maverick- 4.5/5

I think it's better than the original. Due to the years since the first film it doesn't play like your typical sequel and is enhanced by the backstory of the original film.

You could never have seen the original and still enjoy this one as it's on thing.

Top Gun Maverick...7.5/10 The quintessential summer blockbuster movie. Lots of fun, decent tie to the original. Suspension of disbelief is essential of course but as long as you don't get bogged down in the unnecessary love interest or ridiculous stunts by ole Mav its a very good movie.
