'24 MS DL Kamarion Franklin (Ole Miss commit)

they should have a July signing period instead of December. July 1-3 signing period, holiday, then dead period the rest of the month. then a second period thru the fall, with the normal Feb Signing period.

either that, or just go back to the 1 signing period in Feb. way too much big time recruiting going on so much earlier in the cycle now...it either needs to have 2 periods on the calendar that reflect the 2 biggest periods of activity (Spring recruiting/Summer signing; fall recruiting/Winter signing), or slow it all the way down like it used to be.

i'm sure there's some legit reason that i've either forgotten or not thought about that makes that makes this not possible, but with everything else moving up in the calendar it really doesn't make sense to me to have 2 signing periods for the same class 2 months apart.

I think you would drastically increase the number of players entering the portal that signed commitments during the early July signing period.

Too much time to change their mind and many things change from Summer to the offseason. Coaching changes, wins and losses etc. Add the new non-binding NIL resolution and it's just empty paper.
I agree. I hadn't seen your post when I typed my response.

My BVS, if I ever had it in the first place, was cured the second Josh Heupel went 9-4 that first year, with that rag tag bunch. One of my top 5 favorite teams of all time.

Then I got a booster shot with an 11-2, beat Bama season. My second booster has been 2 CWS in 3 seasons, along with one of the greatest teams college baseball has ever seen. Third booster...Rick Barnes. Not to mention the girl's softball, b-ball aspirins.
I agree except for Women’s bball.
By any normal standard it was a successful season this year, but the Lady Vol standard isn’t normal. If anything it’s the only sport where the standard is even higher than in football.

In year one, Heupel took the #102nd ranked offense and improved to 9th. He then improved to #1 in year two.

That's after being #5, #2, and #2 at UCF. At Mizzou his O was #13 in year one and #8 in year two.

Safe to say he needs @BelieveTheHeup93's expert opinion about the scheme, playbook, playcalling, and personnel.
He also had a completely different QB. Heupel is at the very worst a top 3 offensive mind in football. There’s always room for improvement though. Also I’m not telling you what he should do. I’m simply telling you what will happen. Once we have an actual NFL caliber QB with first round WRs and NFL caliber RBs our offense will evolve to something more than what it currently is. In the SEC you evolve or get left behind. Just look at what Gus Malzahn did his first couple of years at Auburn and what ended up happening with him. I’m sure he took notice of what Ohio State did to Georgia’s defense and will implement similar stuff considering them and a completely healthy Bama and 2019 LSU have been the only teams capable of torching their defense

Um, HH is literally in the NFL. If you mean an actual top 2 NFL draft pick at QB then say that.

I agree with all that; but, I've also been paying attention for the last decade+, as well.

Which is of course why he needs your expertise concerning his "completely different QB".

Ah, glad you cleared that up... ever heard of a distinction without a difference? Do you really not see that posts like this one and the earlier one are why most people laugh at you? You come off as an arrogant, know it all... while actually not knowing very much at all.
Once we have an actual NFL caliber QB
Well... thanks for proving my point.

If you mean that Heupel will take the skill sets of future players and put them in a position to have success WITHIN HIS SYSTEM... sure. But that's not the crap you've been talking.

Depends on what you're talking about. You have to adapt. You will always have parts of your scheme that line up better with one roster than another. But that's not what you've been blathering.
Just look at what Gus Malzahn did his first couple of years at Auburn and what ended up happening with him.
Opponents adjusted. He didn't. That and his "quirky" personality that apparently turned players off. You have to adapt to the changes other programs make and the rules. You are trying to wiggle out but that's not what you have been talking about... nor even just "evolution".

UGA played at home and gave their best performance of the year vs UT. They had more talent by a fairly significant margin. They didn't win because of scheme... they won because UGA's DL had a day vs UT's OL.

I doubt there's a soul here who doesn't recognize that UT has a talent/skill gap to close if they want to compete with UGA and Bama for that matter all the time. The team this fall will have some talent and depth additions. They'll also be experienced and fully absorbed into UT's schemes and system.

OSU is a talented team. UGA amazingly played flat like their place in the title game was a foregone conclusion. Heupel may see a flaw in UGA's system to exploit. But he's not going to wholesale switch to OSU's playbook/scheme or philosophy of O... and it would be manifestly STUPID for him to do so.

This is one of those places where very much like D4H you indicate that you have no actual experience playing the game. You ALWAYS look for ways to exploit weaknesses with YOUR system.

no disagreement. then just go to one signing period in December or February. the way they have this calendar is just silly.

Doesn’t bother me. Signing in December just precludes EE’s but allows others to get the process over with. Having the February signing day ties up the relatively few last second undecided’s.
