'24 MS DL Kamarion Franklin (Ole Miss commit)

Clemson's 2016 title was won with the #16 class (2015), #9 class (2014), and #15 class (2013) and #20 class (2012). average: #15
when they won again in 2018, they were working with: #16 (2017), #11 (2016 after they won the NC), #16 (2015), and #9 (2014) classes. for the average of #13.

you can build success up without top ranked classes, building upon good years and development.

we finally have development, and we have had our first successful year. We keep stacking classes around #10 and keep them intact, we will be able to win.

our problem is we have lacked development and we have watched our highly ranked classes disappear to the transfer portal with all the coaching changes.

This has been discussed. They had insane elite QBs both times and played in a ridiculously easy conference. Basically had 12 practice games to get ready for the playoffs. Plus dabo obviously has god on his side.

If anything, Clemson is an anomaly.

Well if it's just little "g" god rather than God Jehovah then that's not saying much lol.

It's not an anomaly. They had really good players at position of needs for each following year. They didn't bolster each group every year.

They put Elite talent at a few position group over 4 years. Which is why their classes were ranked they were.
2011 class elite QB class, Average DB class = 15th ranked class

2012 Elite DB and LB class, Average QB class= 13th ranked class...etc

Clemson plays in the ACC though. The road to just arriving at a chance at winning the title is easier. This isn’t crapping on the staff or anything; Heupel has been nothing short of spectacular in a short time. We have to recruit better in the trenches though.

Maybe in two different ways. One, recruits will take the program even more seriously. Two, the recruiting sites will take Heupel's evals more seriously. Both things will contribute to getting more "elite" classes according to the recruiting sites.
My take is a good season this year, we might get some flips come NSD with consistency building in the program and the NCAA issue in the rearview mirror.

The main thing is too have good sound OL and DL coaches that can maximize what they have. Both positions are the hardest to project out of high school. We are fortunate to have very good coaches on the O-line and D-Line. One more good season and now that the NCAA crap is over with I expect recruiting to only get stronger over the next several years. This staff is building something special! GBO!

I watched a recruiting show a few years back that re-ranked classes…. Clemson was pulling top 5 classes during that time when re-ranked.

LoL hind sight is always five star.
It re-ranked the top 10 and went over each player…. It was amazing the success rate Clemson had during that time…. They had very few misses and several NFL caliber players.

They also had a lot of great coaches/developers of talent that Dabo has since replaced over the years with his buddies, guys with a lot less experience.

I’ll give him credit for going out and hiring a high dollar OC this offseason, didn’t think he had it in his ego to fire Streeter and make the hire he did. Hopefully that blows up in his face though.

Its called development over recruiting sites. Neat concept.
It’s a combination of scouting and development…. An approach that is better suited to our program…. It’s not that easy or more teams would be able to replicate it.

Right on! Reissuing this one but Sam Pittman was never the recruiting standard he was at UGA before or after his time in Athens. Will Friend recruited at a high standard there and not here while Matt Luke didn’t miss a beat landing big uglies…if anything it went to hyperdrive. All of these posters railing about Ellarbee? Plug Stacy Searels in there and see how many booms in 5 star threads follow. 😉

Joe Osovet would be reeling them in though. ;)

That was the direct result of Heup and our gang beating him like a drum. We thinks he can copycat. 😂

Will Friend recruited 5* Darnell Wright and Wanya Morris here. He just didn't know how to coach them up.

That was at the crest of Niedsmania, and it was more that dynamic than Friend which landed them. It’s tragic thinking how we’d have missed on Mays and Spraggins development without a coaching change.

Of course it was, but there is a Niedermeyer at every other top level D1 school as well, certainly there is at Georgia.
