'24 MS DL Kamarion Franklin (Ole Miss commit)

I think sjt meant to imply that both offers are likely "life-changing" money if that is what Franklin is considering. If Tennessee offered $750k and Miami offered $1mil, then both are life-changing, at least short-term, but the Miami offer isn't perhaps so much more life-changing that it should ultimately and easily determine his choice. Other factors should be considered that could affect his future earnings.
People with common sense and good reading skills have no trouble figuring out that is EXACTLY what I was saying.

we don't have pyramid scheme kings that blow money because they don't understand money

cocaine culture in that city - spend it because you have to

So the reason we’re not outbidding them is bc they have a pyramid scheme king that blows money bc he doesn’t understand money and NOT bc Vol Club has 2800 members..

You can see how going up vs someone who you say doesn’t understand money would be difficult, right? No matter what you bid, you’ll be out-bid.

I would take the all capital "NOT" out of your first sentence and nod.

The bold is exactly my point, but I'm good to do some more argumentative agreeing over lunch.

Seemed like your point was there wasn’t enough Vol Club members. Perhaps I misunderstood.

My point is that the amount of members means diddly when going up against Miami due to their determination to spend irresponsibly.

I wonder how long their golden boy is gonna continue to throw all his monies at recruiting before he gets tired of crap seasons.

I was on the board of a charity for a while and have been involved with fund raisers for other not-for-profits. The money generally comes in two forms: 1) leadership grants/gifts from a few deep pockets, and 2) bake sales and car washes from 1 zillion poors. The majority of the money comes in from group 1. If you have a very active group 2 the money can be non-trivial, but the outcome still relies heavily on group 1.

The Volunteer Club can and will be a robust group 2, but the game changers will likely continue to be group 1. Long term I like our chances.

It appears that Miami is built entirely on a single dude in group 1. They will shrivel and die if he ever bails out.

I totally agree with you, however, your example doesn't necessarily support what you are trying to convey. Your example describes a linear curve seeing as how the 22 pts are equal to 6 spots regardless of being above or below #10.
#4 is actually only 12pts above us. #3 is like 30 some odd points above us, so 22pts would have us at number 4. not that 22pts was a magic number creating a range of "equal" talents.

The point was, and I probably did a crap job explaining, we are closer to #4, than we are #16, despite both being 6 spots and within 22pts away. So fixating on the exact final number or ranking misses the context. And i think most people would consider #4 good enough to win trophies, while #16 is struggling to be competitive.

Even as an anomaly I think it shows it can work. To build multiple classes of the "great but not elite" caliber should still lead to success without cracking the final tier. Especially if you have the qb situation worked out.

I mean you’re not wrong but it’s the other part that eats these kids. They’ve been told so many things about what they’re going to be in the future. They never prepare for it that doesn’t work out. Like if you’re an elite athlete but you blow all that money bc you’ve been promised making it to the league then you suffer a career ending injury. Kids are dumb with money, generally think they’re invincible. Programs need to prepare kids better to manage their financial futures. A lot of nfl players are broke as well when they retire.
For a lot of these kids, they grow up with the only successful people(materialisticly) they see being rappers, drug dealers, and athletes. The most successful people they see regularly from getting an education are their teachers. For most of them before, they thought they had to make it to the NFL or NBA to get out of their situation. Now NIL makes it possible for a few to immediately make a difference for their moms/grandmothers and siblings. It's hard to sell a kid(or their family) on what could be 4-5 years down the road if they've never had anything, and you can escape poverty, drugs, and gun violence right now. Carnell Tate's mom didn't make to his first year of NIL payments.

Ive never understood why people think Miami doesnt fill a stadium. Its View attachment 563682capacity.

Not a Miami fan in the least, but they do average 55k a game, 5th in the ACC.Not huge by any means but definitely not empty. Plus Miami is a pro town with lots to do besides watching the Hurricanes play. I don't know why he would choose Miami outside of the South Beach lifestyle. Guess it just depends on what he likes, everyone is different. Some kids just love the beach and the South Beach lifestyle. Honestly, I would think it would be hard to focus on football and school down there. If I had been a prospect I would have needed to stay far away from area's like Miami. Only thing better Miami offers is the Beach and Cuban food.

Man, money really does make people do stupid things. Going to play in a three quarter empty stadium for a team that needed 4 over times to beat a 3 win Virginia team last year. I mean good lord, they weren't even competitive in their losses last year. They were outscored 216 to 83 in those seven losses.

Miami definitely isn't playing in a 3/4 empty stadium. Their capacity it 64k and they averaged 55k last year. That's 85% capacity. No it's not anything close to what we have in Knoxville, but definitely not horrible for a pro town, party atmosphere.

I keep wondering with this kid about AP’s comment about recruits this class throwing people off. I’m holding out hope this Miami noise is just that.
AP doesn’t try throwing people off like that, if he says a kid is leaning to a certain school, they are leaning to that school

Not based off 3 different sites I looked at. All had the exact same same number. Yea every school fudges their attendance numbers some but not enough to make a difference. Their average was 43k in 2021 then almost 55k last season

Clemson football: ACC schools ranked by attendance
Oh for sure. I'm just saying you can watch their games and tell there aren't that many in the stands

😂 😂 😂 There is no way in actual hell they averaged 55k per game of actual human beings there.
