'24 MS DL Kamarion Franklin (Ole Miss commit)

This quote is literally contradictory. I get what he’s saying or at least I get what he’s trying to say. But if you don’t go to the highest bidder then you are literally going somewhere else at a discount. I’m assuming he means as long as it’s relatively close, he will choose the school that is the best fit.
Or maybe he’s saying he’s not going to pick a school that isn’t the best fit only because they want to overpay. He’s going to choose the best fit that also pays what he feels he’s worth.

He could blow out his knee in fall practice before he ever takes a snap. It's literally all about the $ and anyone who thinks it shouldn't be or isn't has their head in the sand.
He could get struck by lightning today and never get anything or go to a program that stunts his professional growth and costs him draft money that would dwarf NIL. We could play the hypothetical game all day…

I'm curious why Nwaneri? Is it because he's rated higher by the services? Or have you watched film of both? Not trying to be argumentative, just curious what you base your opinion on?

I kind of think IF Spyre decided to pay up for one, they'd low-key get the input of CRG on which one he'd rather have.

I have watched the film. Dude is an absolute stud. He is the type of guy Bama, UGA and OSU gets that wrecks offenses.

I think it sounds a little bit comparing a college recruit to a football player than a solider who kills people for money.

Really this is how recruiting top tier recruits have always been done. A handful of schools come in with a competitive offer and the recruit picks the best situation for them.

It's not different than looking for a normal job as an adult.

I mean, sure. Not the point exactly. The NIL $ is coming next year. He has no idea what the future holds. NIL and draft money dwarf most regular job salaries. Not to mention it doesn't seem like a ton of work to collect and he also gets a free education. I'm not sure what constitutes "close" in NIL value for most players but even if it's 10k more at one school vs another that would strongly lead them to go there. A few hundred off probably not but 10k can buy you a few nice things.

The biggest thing we need to focus on now is Clemson's potential departure to the B10. That would open up an insane avenue for the Vols to capitalize on their misfortunes, they will likely be an Iowa or Minnesota type program in the B1G and it would destroy their recruiting. We need to pray that's where they are headed

How does that help us? The Big 10 is a much better conference, but Clemson will win their share if that happens. Can't imagine how does anything but help their recruiting. That's just me, though.

There will be a subset that would prefer the SEC as the premier conference especially in our region, but some might lean to BIG. Distance to games is a big factor for some and not for others. A kid from Knoxville and south has to consider travel to games home and away. Think on that since half the big games will be on the road. Atlanta or Miss to Minnesota or USC is what it is. Time including travel time is money. Requiring flights for the family will be a big deal for some, if not most. If happy with TV, not so much. But if Momma wants to attend most…….will be a huge change from ACC distances they have been selling.

Disagree.

I had two job offers out of College. One at a prestigious company making 10% more than second company but job would not have prepared me as quickly for real world. Second at a small company where I would learn a lot quickly. Took the second job, learned a crap load and 14 months later it had put me in a job where I was with a company that is one of the worlds best in their industry today.

it’s not all about money if the money is close is what he is saying. He is saying I will not go at a deep discount. Your point sounds like the difference between 100k and 10k. Thats opposite of what he said.

I know it’s been over two years but I still feel weird when I hear recruits openly discussing NIL in their interviews.

Going to take some time for that to not shock me a little, for whatever reason.
It became old hat rather quickly to glimpse Bama players flashing rolls of cash with their red Dodge Chargers in the background.

Fair point. Make sure I understand: you’re saying if he values himself at 1 million and someone comes in and offers 2 then he won’t go there if they’re a lesser fit. But imo he’s still taking a discount to go somewhere else. His own perceived value is just out of line with what the free market is willing to give him jmo.

GUESSING he is indicating he is projecting his draft positioning at each school and won’t jump on biggest NIL if the combined values don’t also indicate them as a winner, especially if non monetary factors indicate a different winner. Fit, scheme, locker room comfort, etc.

Fair point. Thanks for helping me see it from another perspective

10% could be 40k vs 44k. 100k at one school vs 110k at another school is pretty significant. I don't know the line to define "close" offers. 10k doesn't seem like much in the NIL world but realistically it's a good bit of money to most people. 5k seems even less in NIL talk but even that's not insignificant. I understand the prestigious company comparison you are making but all D1 schools are prestigious. I have orange-colored glasses but I know that there are better or equal schools out there with equal or better coaches and facilities. This isn't the difference between attending Tennessee and UMass. It's like choosing between a Ferrari or Lamborghini. He has his pick of some of the best of the best and they're all willing to offer him something different $ wise. Of course there's a bit more to it than the NIL but the NIL comes first and foremost and I think one would have their head in the sand to think otherwise.
