Heupel was 2 absolutely atrocious calls away (first down not getting called against Pitt in the redzone and a fumble recovery for a TD being “blown dead because of forward progress” against Ole Miss) from being 9-3 in year 1 and at the very least a TD not getting called in the bowl game away from being 8-5, and they were playing with a roster that was only about 2/3 full. Napier went 6-7 with the 4th overall pick in the draft on his team. His first season and Heupel’s aren’t even remotely close to being comparableI mean, American Athletic Conference Josh showed in year two what he could do after a lackluster year one, I'm sure a guy that built his program from the ground up into a conference champion could do the same, no?
