'25 MS QB Deuce Knight (Auburn commit)

That was something said by the commentator during the game. It was more of an observation than any actual knowledge. The other commentator suggested that he may have had a hand cramp.
So you're saying that a commentator jumped to a conclusion & was talking from his posterior? What a shocker. :)

I am not ready to read too much into Deuce Knight’s performance. It was up and down, with more downs than ups, but he flashed his talent at times. There were throws that you could tell were different. He is still learning a new offense on a shortened time frame. I am more interested in how he bounces back. As far as his recruitment goes, I still think Notre Dame may have the slight advantage over Tennessee, Auburn and some others.

“I think I’ll have a decision in the next month — month or two,” Knight said Friday night after his Lipscomb Academy team’s 35-10 loss to IMG Academy of Bradenton, Fla., in a season-opening showdown between nationally ranked teams. “I just want to knock it out and start recruiting for my class, so I think I’ll definitely have a decision.”
“Vanderbilt’s easy to get to. It’s, like, 10 minutes away now,” he said. “Tennessee, that’s a 2-hour-and-30-minute drive. I want to go to Auburn, for sure, (and) Ole Miss — same schools. I probably won’t get back to Notre Dame, just because of the travel.”
“I probably do know what I want to do. It’s just, I want to be a hundred-percent sure. I don’t want to be the person to commit and then decommit. Once I commit, I want to be stuck there, recruiting for my class.”
“It’s been crazy communication still,” he said. “Same with Tennessee — it’s very just exciting. Just being able to play for Coach Heupel, that’d be very cool because of what he does.”
“I think it’s Coach Heupel, man,” Knight said. “You can’t deny somebody’s background like that. I think one or two Heisman winners. He was a Heisman runner-up, (won a) national championship. He knows what it takes to get there as a player. All the records he has as an offensive coordinator, head coach — his offensive scheme is crazy. I think that’s, like, the biggest factor.”
“I think, first off, it’s just my relationship with the people,” he said. “I want to just have a really good relationship with the people I’m going to be around every day. Second, it’s the offensive scheme. I want to go somewhere where I can just play to my best ability, where they can put me in position to be great and get to the next level. Third is just the atmosphere. I just want to be in a good environment.

I would love to know between Knight and Macintyre as to which QB Heupel and Halze like the best.
I think reading between the lines, it seems the staff's preference is for MacIntyre. I think if given the opportunity, Deuce would have already committed, and his comments about waiting another month or two "to be 100 percent certain" is just buying him some more time to see what GMac is going to do. JMO, but Tennessee has GMac as their preference, but because he may not do anything until after the first of the year, Deuce may be forced to jump on the boat with someone else to get locked in. All things being equal, I think he wants to be at Tennessee.

What a tough situation to be in. I don’t think you can go wrong with either guy. But think about it. Say Knight has some monster games and blows up more. Do you take his commitment? Or do you tell him to wait and see what GMac is gonna do? And what happens if you let Knight go and for some reason miss out on GMac? Highly unlikely scenarios but possible. I guess that’s why Heupel makes the big $$$.

Definitely a calculated risk to put DK off to wait on GMac.

If Knight is in fact going to wait another month or two, then that would give us until around October no later than November to get Gmac in the boat. Idk if the staff will just let Deuce walk without having a lot of confidence in landing GMac.
Agree. And apparently, there is already a good deal of confidence in GMac behind the scenes. I just really doubt he's done anything in two months, publicly. I think it's more likely next January-March time frame.

Knight was 26-of-41 passing for 259 yards and didn't throw an interception or a TD pass. He also ran for 62 yards on 16 carries.
Genuinely curious, why are your numbers different than the other report? I'm pretty sure the backup QB went 1-4 12yds when Knight came out injured.

Sounds like a Vol if we want him. If we don’t take him when he wants in, we better not screw the pooch on gmac. Would suck to somehow miss both when both seem close to being Vols.
