<!-- *** --><!-- body --><!-- begin --> Would he switch to Tennessee? Not a chance
Phillip Sims![]()
After spending this week in California at the prestigious Elite 11 Quarterback Camp, Alabama quarterback commit Phillip Sims got back home to Chesapeake, Virginia around midnight last night. Sims' first order of business today was to address internet rumors that he might switch his commitment to Tennessee.
"Nah, Nah," Sims says. "Tennessee was never even in my thoughts."
With that out of the way -- and with confirmation that his commitment to Alabama is rock solid -- the 6-2, 230-pound Sims discussed his experience at the Elite 11 held at Soka University in Aliso Viejo, CA
"It went really well I thought," Sims says. "There were a lot of good quarterbacks and some good quarterback instructors out there. We worked a lot of footwork drills, hitting targets, and we had classroom work. We also went to Disney World and to Laguna Beach. We had a big barbeque. It was really nice."
As for his performance, Sims says, "I think I did well. I felt like my footwork got better every day. I also felt like I did well in the classroom. I thought I had the strongest arm of all the quarterbacks out there. I think my accuracy improved every day. I had to get used to some of the routes we were throwing. Some of the routes we don't use in our high school system, so it took me a while to adjust to those routes. But I made the adjustments."
In one event, Sims was the only quarterback to hit the target on three straight attempts. Others participating in that event were Mark Sanchez (first round NFL pick of the New York Jets from USC), Texas quarterback and Heisman candidate Colt McCoy and Illinois quarterback Juice Williams, all of whom served as instructors at the camp.
"I got into a rhythm," Sims says. "I hit the target three times in a row there. Then I got hot another time and I was the only guy to hit the target two to three times in a row. I just got into a rhythm."
This summer, Sims has attended several passing tournaments with his Oscar Smith HS team. Earlier this month he was in Hawaii for the Super Seven Quarterback Camp.
"I've got one more day of conditioning [with his high school team] and then we start practicing the next week," Sims says. "I'm ready to rest up a little and get started."
Next up for Sims is some recruiting for Alabama. Tonight, he plans to speak with the nation's top wide receiver, Kyle Prater of Hillside-West Proviso, Illinois.

If there's any questions between UT and SDSU in their minds, logic has no place in this thread.
Bray should commit to UT and start helping with recruting others. This should be a no-brainer.
Other than his parents could attend all of his games. His numbers could look a lot better against worse competition. They just got a new coach who turned Ball State around. A coach who got a junior quarterback from Ball State drafted. If you can turn Ball State around and get a junior quarterback from there drafted... I am sure he could turn San Deigo State around and get Bray drafted. JMO.
I will say the same thing that has been said 10,000 times before. The whole "silent commitment" rumor just doesn't make sense. We were waiting for Scroggins' commitment so that hopefully more recruits would jump on board. Why then would this coaching staff tell a top flight QB to remain silent? It just seems to counter-intuitive.

The silent QB recruit is true IYAM. I will post the same thing i posted on volquest last night.
My friend was at Liscomb last night in Nashville and talked to Kiffin. Said he was a great guy to talk to. He said that he ask Kiffin about Scroggins and Lane told him "yeah we knew about his choice for about a week now" and he ask him what is going to happen next with qb situation and Kiffin respond "Im not going to say but I believe we have a big fish on the reel and he smiled and said don't worry we got it under control". Just thought I would pass it on to you guys.
I posted this last night on volquest like I said but I talked to another good friend inside the program and he told me that there is a silent QB commit and that he is "big fish" because no one would ever thought about him.
Dont shot the messager i agree with you its a no brainer but im just saying what his dad said

he could have been saying that to keep the fan base energized and buzzing and not giving up hope over the QB hunt.
Highly doubtful: Bell(Sam Bradford clone/OK fan) and Sims
Doubtful: Whitmer(illinois commit and lives in their backyard)
Possible: Heaps/Hinder/Bray/Hendrix/Brunetti
