if im not mistaken SDSU has a great QB coach, the name excapes me at times, but hes put a few in the pros. that could be a big issue to him.

well Kiffin new that Scroggins wasnt coming for a couple of weeks so he might have done some recruiting during that time doubt he could do it so quick but you never know.
another point is all this could be BS and we got our hopes up for nothing

Logic has no place in recruiting. That is a big mistake to try and use logic when assessing these kids decisions. Bites me every time.

emotions a much bigger factor. Why so many stay home or as close as possible

Closeness to home, religion?, ?

Also, is the whole QB mystery a ruse?

I had heard a little while back that he might take a visit.. I thought the talk had died down.. Maybe that is the secret commit.... I think they miffed him off at Tex, but I may have the wrong kid...

VolinCo, Connor obviously fits the 'big fish' theory and is someone no one expects, but do you have any insights on this?

This is OLD news but for the sake of discussion, here's the issue, if there is one. This was back when Bryce was still learning to love the Vols.

BTW, we don't even a thread for this stud. Is he interested in being a Vol? He certainly fits the profile.

WOOD DECISION LOOMING
Houston Second Baptist quarterback Connor Wood is expected to choose between Texas and Oklahoma despite numerous other offers and a recent visit to Texas A&M.

With Texas already receiving a commitment from 2010 quarterback Case McCoy, the younger brother of current starter Colt McCoy, and with the Longhorns signing five-star Garrett Gilbert in their 2009 class, some feel Oklahoma has the edge here. But Texas is hinting to Wood that Gilbert will play as a true freshman, so Wood would compete with Case McCoy down the line for the starting job. Texas also is able to sell a level playing field when it comes to competition for the job because Colt McCoy came out of nowhere a few years ago to win the job.

On the Oklahoma side of things, confidence isn't quite as high. But Wood had a great visit to OU for "Junior Day," and sources close to his family seem to think Oklahoma can win this one. Sam Bradford is likely to leave after this season and the Sooners will have redshirt freshman Landry Jones and true freshman Drew Allen as backups this fall, so there would seem to be less competition for Wood if he picks OU.

Sorry for the slow response (dinner called) and thank you for the welcome.

There were some messages on TOS a few days back regarding Connor. If memory serves, a poster who was supposedly familiar with Wood shared that he and his family were open to TN. The poster further requested how to get the info on to the recruiting staff.

The general consensus among responders was that the staff was in touch with the top committed recruits to gauge how solid they remained. But, next step recommendations on getting the word out were offered.

Connor's name popped up a couple of more times on the message board since, but with nothing more than speculation.

Allow me to add, there may have been little to nothing at all in this. Thus my reason for asking if anyone had heard of anything else.

Thanks! I don't think it was ever discussed here or I missed it somehow.

It would be sweet if this had some legs though. It fits with the mystery silent QB rumors extremely well.
