Other than his #2 finish at Daytona a few years ago, I am struggling to see how he's maintained a ride. Obviously, there are great dark-skinned drivers who can win races as evidenced by Louis Hamilton. How long do cup series drivers usually get before they have to win or be demoted?

Dale Jr got by for years and years without doing much of anything at all simply due to his name.

I don't know his whole career record but he did win at Richmond is first full year in the cup series, Daytona and Dover in his second, and Talladega twice in his third. 26 career cup wins ain't shabby for some guy skating by on his name. I know Bubba was sanctioned for cheating in 2019 and I suspect that he was getting close to the poop or get off the pot point in his career as a cup driver.

He's 21st of 37 right now. IDK much about NASCAR, but I know you don't have to win races to have a good year. 28th out of 40 in 2019. 28th out of 48 in 2018. It'd be crazy for a sport to demote half their athletes.

I'll tell you one thing, I'm not surprised at all that posters are taking the conversation here.

Would Bubba Wallace being legitimately great change anybody's mind about anything? If this all were proven to not be a hoax, would it change anybody's mind about anything? Probably not in either case, so why do we spend so much energy on these points?

I tend to agree with you. Fuel the outrage with no evidence. They could've personally interviewed everyone with access to that area by now.

Something new will happen in a few days and this will get swept under the rug. JMO.

What are you saying? That they should've reported this like it's a hoax until they can prove it's not? What evidence is there that it's a hoax?

Whatever the truth is, this has turned out to be a nice moment for NASCAR. You're focusing on outrage. IDK what circles you're in, but I'm mostly seeing positives come out of this story. I have a black gearhead friend from Talladega who works at Honda and LOVES NASCAR. He didn't message me about the noose. He messaged me about all the drivers and everybody supporting BW.

Which, of course, means that all instances of black people attacking white people should be taken with a grain of salt because it might be a hoax. But for some reason that doesn’t happen on here.
