Nashville School Shooting

28 year old woman who identified as a man. Come on. This is why we have mental health facilities. In today's world, we're suppose to be "tolerant" and "accepting". Hogwash. There are men. There are women. 2 genders...period. I can identify as a squirrel. Doesn't make me one. Never will be one. WTH is wrong with people? This country has gone off the deep end. Insane.

Mental health facilities aren’t covered by the government anymore. Even when patients are checked in, they’re rushed to get them out as soon as possible.

completely f'd up situation. one of the child victim's families live two houses up the street from me and I can walk to the school in less than 10 minutes. I saw the kids playing in their front yard over the weekend. There is something wrong with the souls of people who do things like this.

If I was a cop, I don't know if I'd have it in me to not shoot someone who had hurt kids first thing. I hate saying that, but arresting them would be the last thing on my mind. Thankfully for my freedom, I'm not a cop.

If you were a cop, your orders would be to kill the shooter as quickly as possible. They're not aiming for an arrest in this situation.

Why? She was an adult.
Didn't she live with them?
Didn't they know she had mental problems?
Didn't they know she had at least one gun?
If yes still not grounds for murder(I'm not atty).
Had she made threats that they heard?

Her parents should be charged with murder.

I read another article that said they didn’t know. I think her doctor deserves a little scrutiny though. Did he prescribe meds that made her psychotic? If that’s the case, the pharma company needs to be held accountable.

Was she wearing body armor?

My wife is curious as to where the broken glass came from.

Haven't slowed down video, but assuming the first officer shot those first four rounds at her chest. If the first couple hit her and she fell, then his final bullet probably hit the glass behind her.

And, would also explain why she was on ground still moving, forcing the second officer to shoot four more rounds.

Sad to see it. But, Nashville PD handled it by the books.

Every school with over 50 students should be mandated to have a SRO. If they can't afford one, we the people should pay for that via tax.

I view it the same as the Oxford parents. They knew she had mental problems, they knew she was loading up on guns. 2 major red flags. At minimum report it and get her investigated. Maybe you stop this from happening, maybe there's nothing to it. But at least something was done.

I was with you until you said more tax money. I'd rather not give the government anymore of my income, they already get too much as is.

FYI, it is one of very few scenarios where we train to locate, isolate, and eliminate the threat.

And rightfully so.

Yup. I knew that comment would ruffle feathers.

More volunteer SRO people?

We need all the children to attend schools in forts. Gotta keep out the injun's. Defense starts on the perimeter.

Restart the draft. Every male between 60-70 must serve two years walking the borders around schools...packing heaters, intercom, auto-text systems, etc.

Somebody shoots out the glass of my front door, receives a hail of bullets coming back at them. Drag the body inside if that is what it takes to satisfy the courts.

Cool. Set up a donation box somewhere and let them donate then.
Or let the private schools include protection in their tuition if that is what they want. That is what other private institutions including churches and businesses do.

We have a responsibility to protect children in public schools with taxpayer funds.

I read that she fired on squad car(s) from the 2nd floor when they arrived. I suspect the broken glass was where she fired from, if true.

Thank you. That is the intel I was looking for.

She had glasses pieces around where she was dropped. Guess when she shot outwards, the glass flew in all directions.

Sad story.

I am ready to arm the principals and teachers. Like crashing airplanes, this problem can be solved.

I’m fine with that as long as they go through real psych evaluations and training. This should be done like the US Marshalls on airline flights where you never know they’re on board.

The mental health crisis in this country has to be addressed.

Yes. Definitely keep the details a secret. Make the shooters guess and consider whether there might be weapons waiting for them when they enter the school.

Oh look action.

2 and 3 I don't care about. 1 is huge, it eliminates schools as soft targets. This shouldn't be a state thing, it should be a federal one.

Then I'm sure you wouldn't mind paying my share.

It has since come out there were in fact armed teachers at the school, they just weren't willing to run toward the gunfire. Reason number 248 that isn't a good solution. Teachers should not be expected to kill terrorists AND teach children for 45k a year.

Yes. They did the right thing probably. It is a case-by-case basis. There are gun people in most every mixed crowd. It doesn't have to be teachers. Other staff members willing to protect the children if they get a good chance to shoot terrorist in back or whatever. Who knows, might have been Mike the Custodian who had a gun in a lockbox in a closet.

In mom & pop convenience stores, the guy behind the counter may have a gun.

Same approach. Let the terrorists know that if they enter a school, there may be someone on other side of door who is pointing a gun at them from behind a block wall. Drop a couple of these SOB's at the door, and they will move on to easier targets.
