Everyone wants the guy who they have never seen play win the job. It's because there is always hope he will be great...until we see him play. He ends up being good but people cheer for the next guy thinking maybe the guy behind him is better.

I too am cheering for Peterman or one of the freshman because there is hope they could be the best. We'll see.

I'm ecstatic about peterman, but hes been red shirted so we have time to have him mature. Im glad many here think Worley shouldnt be overlooked. He's got some actual playing time and give him an O he's been practicing with that knows how to run the right routes and schemes. He should do very well IMO.

I'll be honest I haven't been this excited about our QB situation in a very very long time. Glad Dooley left CBJ in really really god shape at this position. Something he wasnt given and the major obstacle he didn't have enough time to get out from behind.

Hopefully CBJ handles it right cause the last thing we need is Worley to transfer. He would have to do it after the spring I think cause he wasn't redshirted. So that tight window is good for us.

Really? Two scholarship QBs? One with a wasted RS, with pretty much his only PT being thrown to the wolves at the last minute in an act of desperation. The other, a RS freshman with no playing time at all? The other two QBs were brought in by CBJ this year.

If we have any quality QB play this season, it will be 95% due to spring practice coaching.

Really... Are you Derrick Dooley?

If Tennessee is starting a freshman QB next year, then Tennessee is in trouble. Nothing against Peterman of Dobbs, but starting a freshman QB is very seldom a good thing.

Who else thinks this kid is special and is going to surprise people this year? Rival fans seem to be counting us out because of who we lost on offense, but i really think Peterman has what it takes to lead a prolific offense behind our line and both RBs will be in year two under Jay Graham.

I am very excited to see Peterman take the rains...i don't want to see Worely..have already seen him and am not impressed with his skill set...plus he is just not mobile enough for the offense that we will run IMO.....Chaney and the staff were was raving about Peterman before Dooley was fired and i am ready to see a mobile QB with a gun behind center for UT again.
Is this similar to "making it rain?" PacMan Jones did that in a strip club and it got him in a heap of legal trouble. Wouldn't advise our QB to try that.

BTW, had one of your "visions" about him starting, eh?

All the Peterman love (heh) needs to stop. You have nothing to support him overtaking someone with SEC experience. The fits better in the offense argument isn't true as Worley played in a pass happy version of the spread and should be quite comfortable. In reality I don't think Peterman will be as mobile as everyone is hoping him to be. And as for the Chaney was raving about him argument...Chaney raved about Worley when he was a freshman. Chaney loved to pass, and Worley was his guy.

We don't know who will win the job but people getting on here and totally dismissing the only QB on the roster with SEC experience is pretty damn dumb.

I think worley's brief stint as a backup when Bray got hurt is a very poor assesment of his ability.... He wen't from riding the bench to playing really good defenses like SC. I think he deserves another shot...

I'm pretty sure Coach Jones and co. are going to play the kid that gives us the best chance to win. It's that simple. Jones doesn't owe either player anything. This being said, I honestly believe Peterman will be our guy. He simply brings another element "mobility" to the offense. He's also tough...and is a great leader.

No. How you like them apples?

You have nothing to support him overtaking someone with SEC experience.

You have obviously ignored the entire thread, in which people have, in fact, given reasons to suspect that Peterman could overtake Worley in the Spring.

The fits better in the offense argument isn't true as Worley played in a pass happy version of the spread and should be quite comfortable.

CBJ runs a run-happy, zone read based offense, so I'm confused as to how Worley's high school time in a pass-centric spread would improve your argument.

In reality I don't think Peterman will be as mobile as everyone is hoping him to be.

Is it reality, or just what you think? (Queue Bohemian Rhapsody...)

In reality, the previous coaching staff was impressed by Peterman's mobility enough to install some schemes to capitalize on said mobility. Worley... Nope. Since CBJ prefers a mobile QB and the zone read, it is logical to think that Peterman may be better suited for the new offense.

And as for the Chaney was raving about him argument...Chaney raved about Worley when he was a freshman. Chaney loved to pass, and Worley was his guy.

Um... Chaney is gone. His love for the pass is trumped by the new staff's love for the run and the zone read. Thus, the more mobile QB will have an edge, all else being equal.

It's not that Chaney raved about Peterman... It's that Chaney saw Peterman's mobility and made plans to capitalize on it.

We don't know who will win the job but people getting on here and totally dismissing the only QB on the roster with SEC experience is pretty damn dumb.

Haven't seen too many people totally dismissing Worley. I see several people that believe Peterman is more of a CBJ prototypical QB.

(Plus, we also can't dismiss the lack of success that Worley had in that SEC experience.)

I think we can all agree that the staff will crown the QB that gives us the best chance to succeed. As such, I'm sure that we can all agree to support whichever QB that is, when the time comes.

Edit: People getting on here and ignoring everything else, besides about 13 minutes of SEC playing time, are just dumb. (Now, how do you like it? lol)

he's made less mistakes on the field than Worley has...he's never lost a game in college as the starter either.

Until we see how each performs in the spring and summer, I'm going to assume Worley is the starter.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Peterman named the starter though.

I think a better question might be how we see the carries split up amongst running backs.

I think you will see worley come out and win the job outright you can't go by past games because his freshman year he wasn't even supposed to see the field and last year the coaches put him in the games in bad situations a lot of people will knock him for the Vandy game last year i know he threw a few picks while he was in the game but we did move the ball better than what bray did.

What about Joshua Dobbs? Do you think he will make his presence felt? He is supposed to be a program changer.

Nope....not a chance as a true freshman. I promise you he's not a program changer at 18. He's talented and a good pick up for us, but he's rail thin and simply needs time in our system.

Worley was a True Frosh and Soph when you saw him... and in limited action. I mean, not every QB is NFL ready out of high school, he can make huge strides this off season, as can Peterman, but don't write off Worley.

I'm hereby laying claim to the rights for the nickname "Natty Pete".

...just sayin'.

Maybe "J.Wo" for Worley?

If peterman is the starter we r n trouble. The only pro would be his mobility.. Imo we all want the best qb but to be so hung up on someone that couldnt beat the backup to be backup is strange to me...lol

If bj boy shoves his spread down this team throat n doesnt play to the players strength is a bad idea.. Can u say rich rod anyone

People that don't understand the benefit of redshirting QBs... Now that's strange to me.

when you watch Peterman's tape it looks like you are watching Cincy's offense - the kid is a perfect fit and was recruited by CBJ out of high school - he was a higher rated recruit

all signs seem to point to him being given a really good shot at the starting QB job - i would definitely put him as the favorite to win it

Worley was 8 of 11 in the Vandy game . He threw only one interception when Patterson ran the wrong route(according to coach), and had a sure TD pass bounce off Hunter's facemask that he didn't catch. He threw very accurately in that game.

Excuses excuses Worley is a bad QB cause they didn't run the right route or didn't catch the ball. That's the VN way my friend.

Do me a favor and tell me the names of the QBs that had been on campus at least a season, like peterman and worley, when Dooley arrived?? Thx.
