That doesn't hurt Florida. Miami and Florida State winning helps them take talent from Florida (and, in the case of FSU, hurts Georgia too).
I am typically not a fan of the sentiment a stronger so and so is better for us.I would argue FSU being strong also hurts Alabama and Auburn as well. When FSU is strong they seem to pull a top player every year from Alabama, and it keeps some Florida kids at home who might be inclined to go to Alabama if FSU was down. FSU is also really strong in South Georgia, which can really hurt the Pups and Auburn.
A strong FSU can be negative for us in the Carolinas and Atlanta, but I'd argue we have a home-field advantage in those locales over the Noles and if they choose FSU over UT then they probably weren't coming to UT anyway. Better they go to FSU than Clemson, UGA, UF, AU, UA etc. Clearly the benefits of a strong FSU greatly outweigh the negatives.

In my mind we want to be stronger than everyone. A stronger (insert whoever) is never better. We recruit against anyone and everyone, from Alabama to Georgia to Auburn to UNC to FSU to Oregon. Anyone we are recruiting against, we shouldn't wish them to be strong. UNC takes from us. FSU takes from us. Alabama takes from us. ETC...
FSU is down. Miami is down. Yet still Mullen can't capitilize. He should be KILLING it. Yet he isn't.
If FSU is on the uprise, we don't wind up with Malichi Wideman or Morven Joseph. So in my mind, a "strong" FSU isn't better for us. That can be said time and time again. I never wish for any team to be strong.
I really wish people would get past that. I mean no disrespect. I’m just saying that there’s no guarantee that he would be granted eligibility first of all. Even then he would still have to have selected us first so...I’d feel much better about him than JG going into this year. If we land JT Daniels, it’s all good, though. Bailey can take over after he leaves.
The guy is almost 70 years old and hasn’t done anything noteworthy on the field yet. He’s got a good class, but if they don’t win, it won’t matter and UNC will fade back to irrelevance.
Mack couldn’t win with the most talent in the country after he lost the ship. What would make that change as he got older and away from football? There was never a doubt he could recruit but he also underachieved a lot in his last years at Texas (aka why he was fired).Look I get it, and it's easy to oversimplify and throw out quick retorts about his age but Mack isn't some chump. A lot of you forget that he's coached in a national championship game in the last decade, he's coached in 2 since we've played in our last. He isn't going to fade away. He's built a good staff and is recruiting lights out in a division that's likely the most winnable in the entire nation. Mack is going to win and I'd be willing to bet my salary on it.
Sad but this is the Barnes argument haha. Ya just never know what could happen, especially when in the acc (football) or sec (basketball).Mack couldn’t win with the most talent in the country after he lost the ship.
