'21 NC DE Jahvaree Ritzie (UNC commit)

I like Mack. He comes across as a very honest and personable person. Just like JP he's selling a vision and the kids are buying into it. I can see why. I think he would come across to parents the same way Fulmer did. They trusted Phil with their kids and I believe they trust Mack in the same fashion.

No doubt. He's like your grandpa that will give you a butterscotch and remind you to not ruin your appetite for supper. Then he takes his dentures out and makes you laugh. Oh, Mack.

Mack couldn’t win with the most talent in the country after he lost the ship. What would make that change as he got older and away from football? There was never a doubt he could recruit but he also underachieved a lot in his last years at Texas (aka why he was fired).

Mack was only fired because he didn't meet the standard that he himself set for the decade prior when he won on average 11 games a year and played for 2 national championships. His last 3 years at Texas he still won an average of 8.5 games a year and they've been searching for Mack's replacement ever since. You act like he failed at Texas. He won 158 games in 16 seasons, played in 2 national championships, won 1, and finished in the top 10 7x. There's only a handful of coaches who have ever done better over any stretch in their career. Fulmer didn't even reach those numbers and he coached for 17 years here.

Mack is a good man and a heck of a coach. His health is his problem and he likely won’t be there when these recruits that sign finish their careers at UNC
Can't believe schools can't negatively recruit that point. I mean, it's kind of morbid, but also truth to it.

I have big respect for the guy. Hope he does well and hurts Clemson. Just don't want them to take our recruits

He’s barely flirted with the notion of actually coming here. I’d rather have Dawkins and Page, myself 🤷‍♂️
i dunno about "rather"....but i think it's safe to say we do have some options.....i don't think Page is in the cards though....but who knows. the longer he's out there and available, you never know. all signs point to clemson currently though.

Dawkins and Evans on the DL yep. still going after pennington in state too. still would llike to get another Edge guy though right....Ritze fits that....still going after Mondon. and a few others.

suffice to say, would love to have JR.........but i can honestly say i'm not sweating it. he's seemed like he's been UNC bound since dilworth committed.

Yep. It is ironic what Rick Barnes and Mack Brown are doing at other schools after leaving Texas. Maybe they got complacent after having success. Both were probably victims of their own success (although Texas football had a lot of tradition before Mack while Rick doubled the number of NCAAT appearances at Texas). It goes to show schools that the grass is not always greener. Both are very good men and very good coaches.

Football is a lot harder on a head coach than basketball. Sure he has a good staff but it's a lot harder for him running up and down the sidelines in freezing weather. Maybe he'll stay in the booth ??

Not me. Steve Wiltfong said in a podcast interview the other day that Ritzie had a 5.0 NFL projectability score which was the same as Julio Jones. It's not hard to see why, Ritze is a pure athlete at 6'5 270lbs and at his size ran 200-meter split of 22.7 seconds during last years track season. Physically, he's as gifted as they come.

All three have a shot at the NFL. Personally Ingram-Dawkins really impressed me with his explosion and athletic ability for his size. Kid will be a monster

Absolutely, I was just referencing 247's in house metric they use to project physical ability at the next level. Ritzie is a freak athlete, wouldn't surprise me a bit to see him go to 5* if he has big senior season. That 200 time breaks down to 4.5 40yd split. That's insane speed for a guy his size.
