‘23 NC DL Daevin Hobbs (Tennessee commit)

On3….

“It was a really good game, exciting environment,” Hobbs said. “Georgia played really well on the defensive side. They came out like with a grudge against them. I don’t really know how to put it but I like Georgia more, I think. I’ve been thinking about Georgia more than I was previously.”

“Me and coach Scott, we talk a lot. Ever since June, I would say,” Hobbs said. “So we’ve been talking a lot. Then we did a lot of things. We ate multiple meals together, went axe-throwing, meetings. I was pretty much with him a good amount of time, before the game, after the game, so it was a good time with him.
“He has a really good personality. He knows what he’s talking about. The way he coaches, I like that too. Pretty much just the way he comes off as a person.”
“Pretty much coach Scott saying how they were running low on D-ends and they need me because they like my character, fit in the program. They like players like me because it’s hard to find that are like my size coming off the edge and stuff. So there was like a priority of like me going there.”

“I like coach Smart,” Hobbs said. “He’s a defensive-minded guy, so that’s always good to have that D side in the head coach. He’s a cool dude. I’ve met his kids, his wife, they’re all good people. So I mean coach Smart, I like coach Smart.”
“It was very noisy. I think it was the loudest it’s ever been in that stadium. I love big, loud stadiums, so that definitely did it right there. Just everything about the game, the noise. They got after Tennessee when they were on the offensive side, so it was definitely loud in there.”

Lots of scary stuff but the key is here

“It didn’t like shake up too much, but I would just think of them more higher, I guess,” Hobbs said.

What will help him really decide?

“Pretty much the place where I feel like they can get the most out of me, a place where I feel at home and a place where I can win and we can make some noise pretty much,” Hobbs said.

Clemson also won the NC a couple times. Those teams were clearly legit even if their conference wasn’t. This year even Clemson isn’t legit. Good team, like UNC, but not one of the best teams in the country
Definitely true and I don't think UNC is that great either. But 8-1 is not a trash program no matter what conference they are in, which was my point. If they would have beated Notre Dame, UNC would be a good bet to make the playoffs, even though they are not very good.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I don't see this as bad at all. He's very respectful of UGA but it doesn't seem like the needle was moved here. He basically just says he now has a higher respect for UGA and their program. Alabama has been our biggest competition here and nothing changed this weekend on that front.

I think we still lead based off what he said at the end.
Yea everyone focus on this.

"I guess" sounds like a kid trying to say nice things for the local recruiting site. I think we're good here.

It definitely didn’t sound negative for us that’s for sure. I have a sneaky feeling Bama is out.

Do you honestly think we could beat UGA on a neutral field?
I wouldn’t say we would beat them, but if our DBs improve over that period of time I feel more confident going into that game than I did this Saturday. That crowd really had our offensive line and offense rattled (especially to open the game) just like our crowd did against Bama. I wouldn’t go so far as to say we would be them on a neutral field, but if we played a better game it could be a 1 possession game heading into the 4th quarter

Yes. Once the ball is teed up, anything can happen. Don't be overawed by one bad performance. This team hasn't played it's best football yet. It would sure as hell be a challenge, but that's expected in the playoffs. I'm not taking anything away from GA.

I can agree with most of this. I do think Hooker would play better on a neutral field. I don’t know what happened to our pass rush though. I still think UGA would beat us.

How do we know the team hasn’t played it’s best game yet? How can we possibly play better than we did against Bama??
