‘23 NC DL Daevin Hobbs (Tennessee commit)

Why should working class blue collar families fighting to keep the family budget afloat contribute to the fortune of privileged athletes?

If you’re struggling to keep your budget afloat, then you obviously shouldn’t. Did you really think the subtext of my post was “take food out of your childrens’ mouths so we can land some recruits”?

Do you honestly think we could beat UGA on a neutral field?
Absolutely, we could. We wouldn't be favored and I wouldn't expect us to win, necessarily, but a lot of our mistakes that put us behind the chains were directly related to their home field advantage (at least 6 false starts). All of their damage was done in the first half, offensively. Maybe you can argue they got conservative in the second half, but we still held them to 3 points. After their initial fumble, every bounce went their way in the first half, including the fortuitous punt. We were thoroughly dominated for a half, but I have faith in our staff to scheme together some ways to neutralize their attack to a degree. I think we could play with them even if I acknowledge the heavy talent advantage they have.

Do you honestly think we could beat UGA on a neutral field?

Could? Yes. Would? I don’t know.

I’m not going to overreact to one game on the road where we had a lot of dumb mistakes. Georgia is clearly the better team, but I don’t think the gap is as insurmountable this season as some are making it out to be.

Neutral field. One month to prepare. Tape to watch on our mistakes. I think it would be a lot closer this time.

...and who knows? Maybe they actually make some mistakes next time.

Let’s just put it this way. Alabama thoroughly dominated Georgia in the 2021 SEC Championship game. It was close for a bit but Alabama ended up winning by more than Georgia beat us. Georgia came back a month later and beat Alabama.

Granted, those two rosters are far more comparable from a talent stand point. But it’s just a point to illustrate that it’s not unrealistic to think this team can beat Georgia.

I'd like another shot at Georgia. For sure.

A rematch would afford us the opportunity to see where Heupel is *right now* as a game planner. Got out-schemed in that one. Which is fine, that’s the reigning NC coach who is known as an elite defensive mind on that other sideline. But I’d like to give Heup another shot to see what he comes up with.

Dumb question of the day... What is Hobbs talking about when he says.. “It didn’t like shake up too much, but I would just think of them more higher, I guess,”.

I think when the visit high wears off, the Rodney Garner affect, the possibility of going to the same school as his sister, and making his mamma happy on her birthday will lead to him committing to the Big Orange!
Yeah I just don’t see them overtaking us over the next two weeks, not with us having Rodney Garner.

I’m sure I’ll get hammered for this, but with how Georgia has been pumping out first round picks at DL I’m not so sure playing for RG is quite the selling point in this battle that some on here thinks it is

Do you honestly think we could beat UGA on a neutral field?
Absolutely, I think big time Home field advantages in college football like Neyland, Death Valley, & Athens last Saturday are worth 10 points, with the drive killing offensive penalties that it creates etc. The rematch on a corporate neutral site playoff environment will be a one score game I believe for sure.

For the same reason Bama wanted a rematch with us. Anything is possible with a neutral field game. So many things can change in that scenario. UGA was laser focused for this game, tired of hearing all the gushing over UT, Hooker Heisman talk, home field advantage. It was the perfect storm. Vols haven’t recruited at the level UGA has, so there is a definite advantage in talent to UGA. All that said, I’d like to see a rematch in the playoffs because on any given day………
