Works that way a lot, actually. The top lineman that are 5*+ usually start no matter where they go. Saban usually had a true freshman somewhere on his OL
No they don't. They seem to only start if there wasn't a starter coming back.
Of the Top 5 OL in 2024, only 2 started.
Seaton at Colorado, because their OL sucked and the last starter was gone.
Thompson at USCe, because their OL sucked and the last starter was gone.
Baker at Texas only started late in the year after the starter was injured.
Heywood at Wisconsin played but only started 2 games against G5 opponents.
Calhoun at UGA doesn't look like he played at all
2023 is pretty much the same.
Proctor at B*** started, but the previous starter was gone
Mauigoa at Miami started, but the previous starter was gone and the OL sucked.
Lance Heard at LSU didn't start because there was an established starter. ended up transferring to a school we are familiar with.
Okunlola at Miami played 3 games as a freshman, played in 9 this year, looks like he got some starts but not against conference foes
Williams at Penn State also only played 3 games as a freshman.
this is an issue of confirmation bias. everyone remembers the exceptions, because they are special. There is no reason to remember the guys who follow the "typical" route. also it looks like they aren't stealing the jobs.
