Anybody that watched this season, or just the bowl game, should know we had 2 FCS level OL playing a significant amount of time. OL is a concern, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t get fixed, but it’s a glaring issue. Blissfully ignoring that is silly. We're not supposed to talk about the moves the coaches are making and why they are making them? It's obvious coaches see the OL as a concern based on who they are targeting in the portal. Why not talk about it?
Dude it’s 2023… Ole Miss’s donors aren’t plantation owners haha. Their donors own car dealerships, investment firms, oil refineries, and the COO of FedEx. They have massive donors from Jackson, New Orleans, Memphis, Houston.People laugh about it but there’s a ton of old money(plantation) in Mississippi
I don’t know if that’s how the school formally known as the rebels got the money but…..
Think he was referring to the original source of their money..."old money".Dude it’s 2023… Ole Miss’s donors aren’t plantation owners haha. Their donors own car dealerships, investment firms, oil refineries, and the COO of FedEx. They have massive donors from Jackson, New Orleans, Memphis, Houston.
Still do not have the money that Tennessee has available. Now I can buy that Heupel is trying to spend to build long term whereas Kiffin has a shorter time table in mind and is blowing all the cash to get there. If Heupel loses to Florida next year at home bc the Oline gets their ass handed to them much like this year he will have the fans calling for his head.Dude it’s 2023… Ole Miss’s donors aren’t plantation owners haha. They had big money from those families and farmersThe odds of finding a family whose wealth truly traces back that far are extremely low. It’s very rare wealth lasts more than a couple of generations

When Hubbs will admit something isn't going well in recruiting, you know it is bad. He doesn't go overly optimistic but he doesn't make negative recruiting comments either unless it is to the extreme. There was a lot of talk about our NIL collective not overpaying for players early like some schools were and not buying into these bidding wars. Thinking being that other schools would run out.of money later in the process. Well it doesn't appear that had been the case and now vols are the squirels left without enough nuts for the winter. So Hubbs thinks we have been sucking on portal recruiting too? Imagine that.
Usually it’s good if you get the first visit from a guy. Heard was here for a short time period but Brazzell also was here for a short period as well. So I don’t think it necessarily means anything. Really good to see the staff is covering their bases though in case that falls through. Really need Heard and another OG at least imo.AP says we have Mississippi State OT Percy Lewis visiting this weekend. He’s 6’8” 340lbs. Last week he visited Ole Miss, Auburn, and Arkansas. I take him visiting us this weekend as a good sign that he hasn’t gotten quite what he wanted out of these other visits. AP also said we are trying to get more visitors along the OL because we don’t want to wait and put all our eggs in the Heard basket, but he also said we are not out of it yet for heard.

Auburn hosted Mississippi State offensive tackle transfer Percy Lewis on an official visit and the Tigers are now a finalist for him.
He also visited Arkansas earlier in the week and following his visit to the Plains, he will no longer be visiting Ole Miss.
"I just took two visits — I ain’t going to take no more," Lewis told Auburn Undercover's Nathan King. "It’s time to narrow it down because it’s getting about that time again. So I ain’t going to keep going on these visits. I’m just going to narrow it down. Get home tonight, do a little thinking by myself and just make my move in the morning.
The 6-foot-8, 345-pounder appeared in all 12 games for the Bulldogs at left tackle, starting the final seven. He allowed just one sack and four hurries in 235 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
A former JUCO product, Lewis spent two seasons at Mississippi State and will have two seasons of eligibility at his next stop, though he is hoping to play just one before entering the NFL.
Good thing is last time hubbs criticized te recruiting we landed the big one out of the portal shortly after that. Hopefully the case here as well. When Hubbs will admit something isn't going well in recruiting, you know it is bad. I think they probably get Pounds, idk what happens with Mincey, between us and OU for Heard but he could take more visits is last I’ve heard there. Honestly think Pounds may be the best or the group discounting stars and all that jazz. Hoping we can get him to visit. Can’t imagine Ole MS gets all 3.
I thought the o-line class this year on paper appears to be pretty good. Their first month it was mass exodus, not their fault. The first year he arrived recruiting was over. And his first 2 years he was also handicapped by NCAA potential penalties.Who? I want him to be successful. Fact is with where Florida is now and where we are now he should win that game at home. If he can’t beat Florida now, the future doesn’t look real fantastic for him to ever beat them. Heupel is a good coach and great playcaller but if you cannot land Oline in year four and have sub par starters there it’s a severe problem.
I’ve pretty much acknowledged that. I do think the past year and even the year before that were much better Oline classes. I think we will be better in the future. Problem is your future is now at QB. You’ve got your guy in position to be successful he needs a line to do thatI thought the o-line class this year on paper appears to be pretty good. This was really the first year of their recruiting.
People seem to forget or ignore how stacked the deck was against this staff when they first got here.
But you can't ignore the new game in town...the transfer portal/NIL. The old days of "flipping the roster" and letting a coach build a program the old way anymore. I was guilty of this previously, but then I see what FSU did using the portal. I see what Ole Miss is trying to do. Not saying that's the way to go, but the idea that you have to give a staff 4-5 years to rebuild is not longer valid. New game, new rules.I thought the o-line class this year on paper appears to be pretty good. Their first month it was mass exodus, not their fault. The first year he arrived recruiting was over. Agree but some would argue after two decades of being in the wilderness that this staff is already rebuilding and is headed in right direction to compete for NC by stacking elite talent at postions like QB, edge, DL.But you can't ignore the new game in town...the transfer portal/NIL.
