Justin Fields was like this until his senior year. When Tennessee was recruiting him hard he was mainly outside the top 100Can't ever recall such a huge discrepancy amongst ratings for a prospect. Are scouts really that split on him or are the guys at ESPN/Rivals & on3/247 beefing again?
#1 247Sports
#42 ESPN (4 star #5 QB #2 in-state)
#9 on3 (5 star #2 QB #2 in-state)
#134 Rivals (4 star #8 QB #9 in-state)
Who came in with Clausen? Was it Rattay or something like that? those guys may of been 5 stars but I'm not sure, that was 25 years ago.Never have we landed three 5*s and a highly rated 4* QB in a four year stretch(assuming we get Brandon). Not only 5* QBs, but all being considered top 3 at that position.
Parade All-American and Top 20 overall player by Max Emfinger. Translates to high five star rating if virgin nerds had existed.Crap, yesss...how could I forget Heath on the front end? I guess I'm not entirely sure where he was ranked in high school rankings since they weren't readily available circa 1990-ish. Was he a stud prospect? He was a heck of a college QB, I know that.
I was wrong about that. It says Clausen and James Banks were rated above Crompton. Of course Banks ended up at WR. @Volunteer821They weren't as highly regarded as Manning and Stewart. Before Nico, I think Crompton was the highest rated QB we had landed since Manning.
Clausen was a high 4, low 5. Banks was a 5.I was wrong about that. It says Clausen and James Banks were rated above Crompton. Of course Banks ended up at WR. @Volunteer821

This kinda of puts the level of QB recruiting that Heupel is doing into perspective.
