'20 NC QB Navy Shuler

Just remember who we had at QB in the 85 sugar bowl , you never know who you may have to depend on. The young man beat the mighty Hurricanes . Of course we hope it doesn't come to using the backup.
Darell Dickey thought someone would remember he could throw the ball about 45 yards with the wind.

I remember when he replaced Tony Robinson at Alabama. His first pass hit an Alabama player in the numbers and thankfully he dropped it, but he actually played pretty well after that.

He did what he was capable of doing and that was limited. That was a really good team with Robinson , he was ahead of his time wish he hadn't been injured.

Remove playing ability from this equation. That's short-sighted. Bringing this legacy kid to the locker room will be a very good thing. It's tough to build commitment and sense of family on a team full of players from all over the country, especially in the 'portal' era.

Navy brings a lifelong passion for the Vols to work every day. That has a lot of value and Heupel knows it.

VolQuest - Navy Shuler thrilled to be 'home' on Rocky Top

Very cool. I did not realize that Heupel recruited him at UCF either.

"Heupel recruited Shuler out of high school while at UCF. The similarities between the offense ran at Christ School in Asheville by Shuler and now at Tennessee under Heupel jump off the page. Both display usage of the RPOs and quick passing game and both are fast-tempo."

Question for you. What if this kid has the same intangibles his dad did? You still think that lowly of him?
Legend of his dad was he could throw it from 40 yards on his knees and hit the goal post cross bar. He also broke a basketball backboard dunking before the game started.

It looks like he may have grown a little. He was under 6' I believe while being recruited. I think that hurt interest in him.

Not a bad backup, backup if he has the arm.
