Well whoever the commentator at halftime on ESPN deserves one of these: "Dumb." along with "uh no."

another monster double double for BG.
another 30-pt all-around effort for SC.
TH an efficient 20 and 10.
Teague with a solid 23 in a losing effort.
and harden scores 40% of his team's pts.

good race going on here.

I think TH is out this year (unless he can win NC). His style is not flashy enough for most in the media to give it to him two years in a row.

From what I saw of Teague last night, he seemed to not want the shot at the end of the game. That's very un-NPOY. Bit of a headcase.

I still like Curry's chances (if he can advance past first weekend in tourney), and if he keeps putting up monster numbers -- especially against opponents like Elon. :p

I have no opinion on the Okie.

the okie is the best combination of talent / size in the country. He's dominant on the floor, but has benefited from some solid teammates, where Curry has had no such help.

The % of team's overall points scored is much more an indictment of the team than it is praise for the individual.

I think I agree with what you're saying, but I wonder if someone like BG wouldn't actually benefit more (statwise) if he were playing with less skilled players in a lesser league like SoCon. His numbers would be much better (even without help), but he'd miss being on ESPN twice a week...and that's not nothing.

Conversely, place Curry on a quality team in the B12 or ACC and his numbers definitely drop... not b/c he can't play at that level (he can) but b/c he'd suddenly have better teammates that would demand the ball as well. All this makes me think TH might be just as deserving as anyone again this year. Still, I don't think he'll get it unless UNC wins it all.

Finally, does anyone really think Meeks has anymore than a very outside chance. I know Jimmy Dykes says he has to be considered, but does he really?

If he has a torrid run through the SEC and Curry and Griffin drop off somewhat, perhaps.

Right now I think it's a two-horse race, and one of those horses tonight is 8-12 from the field and 6-8 from 3-pt range with 4 assists and 5 rebounds...in the first half.

Against Wofford. As big a sham as Sucko T winning over Beasley was last year, Curry winning with his putrid FG% against legitimate opponents would be even more ridiculous.

name one legitimate team who wouldn't love to have his "putrid" FG%, and his 29pts, and his 6 assists on their stat sheets.

Add up Curry's shooting numbers against the non garbage on their schedule. It's the definition of putrid.

are you still thinking?
Why would teams in the Big East be clamoring for a guy who shoots about 30% against good teams? Not a whole bunch of Woffords and Chattanoogas in that league. Davidson was a cute little story last year year. It was good to see McKillop finally get his due. However, I'm looking forward to seeing them get utterly annihilated in the NCAAs this year. If Curry wins a Player of th Year award, Tebow should have to turn his Heisman over to Colt Brennan. The day a guy wins POY for lighting up SoCon trash, the award becomes meaningless.

I should probably read this thread first, but I'd go with Harden so far, teague, griffin, then....yes....meeks.

But I really don't see anyone as on the level with harden so far.

all I want out of Zoubek is to clog up the lane. Thomas continues to get enough boards and the guard play will determine how far Duke goes in March.

come on. Hersey Hawkins was a much more prolific scorer than Curry and what did he win for it?

Yep. Bo Kimble, Alphonso Ford, Lee Nailon...all were prolific college scorers...they don't have any POY hardware.

Xavier McDaniel led the country in scoring and rebounding. He didn't win the POY award. I guess his lack of a camera hogging mother in the stands ruined his chances.

that was in reference to the Davidson comment - I bet JTIII, Mark Few and Bo Ryan all were so charmed by Davidson's adorable story.
