NCAA hits UT football with additional Probation/Penalties?

Here's what I don't get.

Seastrunk had used up all his official visits. Known fact.

Seastrunk's single mom was poor. Known fact.

Kiffin had to know the money had to come from somewhere. Why isn't he held accountable?

USC also had incidents with Joe McKnight and bastketball player Davon Jefferson receiving perks after their penalties were handed down. If this is the new precedence being set, where are the further penalties for USC?

And he did not even come here either.

I don't get why the sky is Falling. in what way is this the worst thing that could happen to UT, no losses of scholarships, no Post season bans, no forfiet games. What am I missing and how does it affect us ? Serious question...

The NCAA onerlooks the kid at Duke with $100,000+ in jewelry, which they should have to give up a NC and forfeit all the games he played in. UNC has the biggest academic fraud in history to make players eligible and should bring down some banners....but the NCAA and Emmert do nothing. Selective enforcement

Some of of you need to actually read the penalties before posting that the sky has fallen, and that the Mayan Prophesy has indeed arrived...

These are but a mere flesh wound.

If the new coach is truly hindered by these relatively minor penalties than he'd have failed here regardless.

This will be nothing but a small inconvenience for a top shelf head coach.

In the book Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, he explains how numerous bad or unfortunate decisions timed at the exact wrong times can lead to major disasters or outliers to the statistical probabilities. Think about that in terms of Tennessee Football.

1. Mike Hamilton fired a Hall of Fame coach during the season.
2. Mike Hamilton gives the keys to a young and immature lane kiffin.
3. Kiffin made poor decisions on NCAA rules while at Tennessee.
4. Pete Carroll bails on USC after the Reggie Bush scandal for Seattle.
5. Kiffin decides to leave in our most crucial hour for the USC job.
6. Mike Hamilton hires of all possible choices, Derek Dooley.
7. Derek Dooley coaches, we all got to see those results.
8. Tennessee still being punished to this day by NCAA from kiffin errors.

Tennessee is a proud football program, in the top 10 by all statistical facts. The last 5 years we have lost at unprecedented levels, we are living in the statistical outlier.

In the meantime, Coach Dooley is still working on getting correct number of players on the field. I suppose that is a statistical challenge of some sort...

Lol... The NCAA is such a joke man. Still slapping the wrist on programs for stupid **** that goes on everywhere.

Hell I have a friend on OU's football team who just bought a new flat screen with the school's credit card. These kids get whatever they want at any big program. NCAA is the biggest joke in sports.

This WILL make it harder to hire a good coach.

Just more reasons adding up for most good coaches to say NO THANKS to AD Hart when he calls them.

NCAA needs to change things fast so that all violations WILL follow the coaches around no matter where they coach and it should be made a permanent part of their resume' for all to see.

NCAA needs a 3 and out rule...caught cheating 3 times and you never coach in college again.

There so many reasons why good coaches wouldn't want to come to Tennessee that I actually feel sorry for AD Hart having to try and hire anyone.

This really sucks.

VFL...GBO!!!

It doesn't seem like it's a big deal as far as penalties at least we didn't lose bowl games or scholarships

The NCAA knows it's not necessary to penalize us by denying the Vols the right to go to a bowl game. Why should they? We're not going anyway.

Fun Fact: No, it won't. Please read the actual penalties.

They should penalize Kiffin instead of UT. It makes me mad that a coach leaves and the NCAA punishes the school for a coach's behavior.

I think we should try to play this card - report that we have self imposed a two year bowl ban, starting last year and through this year. Maybe that will satisfy those idiots.

You idiots. Look at the state of Tennessee football. It's because of your stupid attitudes and inability to exhibit loyalty toward one of our own that Tennessee football is a disgrace and showing NO SIGNS of ever being able to return to prominence.

Chew on it. Enjoy it. You ****ing did this to us.:finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3:

All we need another idiotic troll on this board.

Watching the USC/UCLA game and can you believe it, Kiffin wearing a white sun shade with the BIG Orange T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that Tennessee got extra probation for their dealings with Willie Lyles, I assume Oregon will get slammed sometime next week...

...oh wait, Oregon is ranked #1 and stands to make a lot of people and institutions a bunch of money. Nothing to see here.

Nike provides their legal defense pro bono.
