Well, that's not so bad at all.Not going to be 28. NCAA is crediting 16 scholarships that UT held back as a self-imposed penalty. It will only be 2-3 scholarships per year over the five year period. Roster will drop from 85 scholarships max to 82 or 83 max.
That's correct ... but it needs to be emphasized that the number is 12. A lot of media outlets are reporting 28.I’m honestly a little shocked by some of the reactions. This is about as good of an outcome is Tennessee could’ve hope for. 18 level one violations is quite a lot. And to only have to part with 10 to 12 more scholarships over the next five years is basically a slap on the hand.

Technically, Spyre paid Nico ... but a good point nevertheless. The fine is nothing.Considering we just paid a kid 8mil and he hasnt even taken a snap yet. This is the best possible out come TN could have hoped for. Now we get to sip coffee and watch other fanbases cry about how the punishment wasnt harsh enough
Saban I guarantee still cheats his ass off and sec and ncaa gonna hug his and bama nuts from here to eternity best coach ever what a jokeConsidering we just paid a kid 8mil and he hasnt even taken a snap yet. I take this as amounting to 2 scholarships against the 85 team cap for each year of probation…not a huge deal. Two against the annual signing limit of 25 would be a huge deal. Can anyone confirm that it is the former?
Not having to pay Pruitt a buyout makes it a wash, basically. Yeah, we lost money ... but that's what happens when you make bad hires. We paid Butch Jones $8.26 million. After this year we get credit for 18 of the 28 reductions imposed over the next 5 years.
The $ fine probably hurts somewhat, everything else is peanuts.
12 over the next 5 years. Not sure I understand the scholarship reductions. On its face, it could be interpreted that a reduction of 28 scholarships would mean 28 per year every year for the next 5 years. That would mean we'd be down to 57 maximum scholarships per season - ignoring any credit we receive for past self-imposed reductions.
This is a virtual death knell.
Alternatively, it could be interpreted that it's 28 total scholarship equivalent years over a 5 year period. This would mean a loss of less than 6 per year less any credits over the next 5 years.
Anyone *know* for certain what the scholarship language means?
