NCAA investigation status

I’m honestly a little shocked by some of the reactions. This is about as good of an outcome as Tennessee could’ve hope for. 18 level one violations is quite a lot. And to only have to part with 10 to 12 more scholarships over the next five years is basically a slap on the hand.

Actual footage of our administration are hearing the punishment.

Right there with you. Anyone that thinks we got hit hard should go back and look at the 80s and 90s teams on probation. Alabama numerous times, Auburn, Fla USC, SMU etc. A bowl ban and tv ban would be getting hammered. 28 more scholarships Without the 16 credit would have sucked but luckily it's only 12 more instead of 28 more. We got off easy and I guarantee White and everyone else in the AD department is happy with this outcome. A lot of infractions were committed. If this happened 25 yrs ago we are looking 1 or 2 years bowl ban. 30 yrs ago there would have been a tv ban. I'll take this result all day!
Yep, the fact that many other fan bases who have had past infractions are so mad that UT didn’t get more says it all

Ole Miss received a bowl ban in 2018, with fewer Level One violations than what we have.
Their fans hve been griping about it all afternoon. Many others have as well. Even Kansas bball fans are somehow mad, but I’m not sure why. They got off easy too imo .

Can't believe we still paid Fulmer and he skates untouched by all this. Just a complete disaster as an AD and to absolve him of any responsibility in this is ridiculous.
Rule #1, never trust a Bammer. Fulmer should have known this better than anyone.

This!! Exactly why you do what our AD did. Comply and make their job easier. That's why Ala got hammered in the 90's. They told the ncaa to F off and the ncaa showed who was in charge.

If we get in trouble again over the next 5 years, NCAA will go back to this infraction and the new infraction and have additional penalties showing a pattern of rule breaking....
We don’t have to cheat. We got rid of the cheaters! Nothing is gonna stop this staff now! GBO!

So we got fined 8 million for doing what most big time programs have been doing for years now?

Lol

We just had dumba$$es who didn't know how to hide it or even care. Fulmer could have helped but obviously Pruitt didn't seek out help or advice. Fulmer got away with stuff for over a decade and a half. But he knew what he was doing and had Roy Kramer looking out for him.

They could already be at about 80 or 81 right now, even with the late enrollees from 2023. Some "gitshirts" could help the situation, where you take all of your medicine in the first year and stay at about 77 or 78 in 2023.

Hubbs has said he thinks UT tried to negotiate with the NCAA and just have like 4 or 5 scholarships taken away and that the NCAA Enforcement wanted the punishment to be tougher. But, the Committee on Infractions could be lenient and let us off with a fine and "time served".

They are at 84 scholarships. Can be found at top of recruiting board

Was CPF referenced negatively anywhere in the ruling?

Being able to send him off the way they did insulated Show Cause at the department level and had to mitigate some punishments. It also took involvement anywhere above the HC off the table. Not a hint of coverup or white lying upstream.

WHO fired Pruitt, CPF or who.

Above his head. All he could do was mutter about good recruiting.

I tend to think Fulmer may have maintained complete silence since he was unaware that an investigation was going on in his department.

No post season ban and a manageable number of scholly reductions is good news IMO. The negative press is not great, but at least it's over and behind us. According to ESPN, the 8 million is believed to be the stiffest fine ever levied by the NCAA. I'm sure UT can setup a $100 per month payment plan! :)
Yeah I was listening to sports radio coming from the gym and they say this is the highest but it appears the NCAA is moving away from Bowl/TV bans and instead using fines and by suspending Pruitt 1yr if he ever takes a job is punishing the coach instead of the players of a team that he's no longer the coach of, said now a school will really have to want him knowing his 1st year he's suspended
At least we can now move forward. Two scholarships a year shouldn't really hurt us and schools can't really negative recruit now using that CJH can always tell a recruit look what we accomplished with less. Come be part of something special
