Don't know who it is going to be up here at va tech, but I do know the ball is rolling. Position coaches were informed last week that they would not be returning. Or at least 3 were told that appears. Sounds like they already have interviewed their person potentially and are just waiting for a day or 3 after season ends to announce.

Oh wow. Bud out too?

Don't know about him yet. Let's not forget about all the other lives we don't often think about that are affected by coaching changes, the coaches families. It's especially hard on these kids that have to move around every couple of years.

Miami: Joaquin Gonzalez, a former Hurricane player in the early 2000’s, noted today that he “just finished interview with search firm…consensus across all their interviews has been Butch [Davis]/Mario [Cristobal] are leading,” followed by Rob Chudzinski and Greg Schiano.

This is good money..and I think Texas is a no income tax state

Houston: The University of Houston Board of Regents has approved raising Tom Herman’s salary to $3 million per year. As we understand it, this is the Board approving this in advance. The two sides haven’t agreed to a new contract yet. Will update.

If Georgia Tech finishes 3-9 Paul Johnson will be in trouble in 2016. GT could have a new head coach in 2017 if GT has a losing record or is .500 in 2016.

3 mil per might get him to stay.

GT is an amazing institution and has pretty good leadership at the top. I wish them the best (except when they play us of course).

I hope Tom stays at Houston. The Cougars will stay good with him as head coach:rock:

LSU: Scott Rabalais of The Advocate says more sources have confirmed his previous report that Les Miles is coaching for his job. Rabalais now writes that there are three scenarios. If LSU wins out against Ole Miss and Texas A&M, Miles will be back. If LSU loses both, there is “little chance” he would be allowed to return. If LSU splits the games, it could go either way, depending on how the games play out. Rabalais reiterates that Miles’ $15 million buyout is not a deal-breaker.

Bama...can you elaborate? Not sure of what you are saying...

The only motivation the Big XII would have to expand, at the moment, would be to get to 12 teams to hold a title game. But if the deregulation proposal passes in January (and it looks like it will), then the conference can hold a title game with 10 members, and there would be no motivation for Big XII expansion unless it's a massive upgrade. There aren't many massive upgrades available, and Houston sure as heck doesn't qualify. That's not a knock on the program, it's just the reality of the situation.

Gotcha...thanks!

I think Houston will be in the Big 12 eventually

If another round of massive realignment happens, and the conference is maybe trying to get to 16, then I could see it as a possibility. But there is absolutely no benefit to having 5 out of 11 or 12 teams in the state of Texas. It's bad fiscal policy. Especially if they are allowed to play a title game with 10 teams.

Fuente has a 3+ million dollar offer to stay at Memphis..thats a lot of Central BBQ and Gus's chicken...and whatever the name of the little blue hole in the wall that makes that incredible bbq boloney/cole slaw sandwich :)

Memphis: Following in Houston’s footsteps, Memphis has now gone public that they made what AD Tom Bowen Friday referred to as an “extraordinary offer” to Justin Fuente. Bowen told the Commercial Appeal that they presented the new contract offer to Fuente in October. The CA reports that it would have made Fuente the highest paid coach outside of the Power 5 at the time (although the CA reports that the offer is for more than $3 million per). Fuente when asked about the offer today declined to discuss the offer other than to say “I was sincerely humbled…My representatives have been in contact since this offer several times with the administration. We haven’t signed it yet, but we’re honored to get it.” Fuente added, “Opportunities may come along, and we’ll vet those as they come, but we have an incredible amount of sweat equity invested here. Our university has made a generous offer to keep our staff here, and when the time comes we’ll evaluate all that and try to make the best decision possible. Read more at the Commercial Appeal.

So let's recap...job openings/possibles include:

Virginia Tech
USC
USCe
Maryland
Miami
Mizzou
Texas?
UGA?
LSU?
Ky?
WVU?
Memphis?
Houston?

Man, if the Vols can't find their way into the top 25 next year with all this turnover, we may never. We'll have a 4th year head coach and should be ahead of all these other teams. And, we play 5 of the teams listed above next season...

The CA's lead-up saying he declined to address the offer other than to say "..." is pretty misleading. He said quite a bit regarding the offer.

Along with Fuente offer, Football Scoop (I know, but they're right a good bit of the time) says he's not expected to be a Mizzou candidate. Never thought he'd take an SEC job so no surprise here.

If I were Herman or Fuente..I wouldn't touch the Missouri or USCe jobs..with Clemson up USCe isn't going to be able to get enough players to compete..I'd rather have the VT or Miami jobs...you can win at both those schools
