NCAA Open Jobs Thread

Kravitz is supposed to be close to Irsay so if he is saying it, there is some truth to it. My top 3 are: Saban, Harbaugh and Gruden
It will be the #1 job open, selling points:
1.You already have your franchise QB for the next 10 years
2. $$
3. Irsay sounds like he is willing to give the new coach full control over roster.

It amazes me that you Bammers think Saban feels loyalty or love for the University.

How many jobs has Saban's name been attached to the whole time he's been at Alabama? Every time his statement with the Dolphins is brought up but it's been almost a decade.

My only point is that most Bammers are delusional to think there isn't a possibility Saban takes another job.

I think most of us believe that the possibility is too remote to spend much time worrying about. He's had several opportunities to leave and hasn't.

Just wait until he has a grandchild named Lane Tuscaloosa Saban-Kiffin. You'll need a new coach and a new OC. .

There may be a possibility but I've yet to see a really good one. I think there is just as much assumption ob the non-Bammer side. As I said he's been there almost 10 years, and for a guy that supposedly has a rep for leaving, that's a long time.

The last time Mizzou had an opening they hired the coach at Toledo. Wouldn't be surprised if they go that direction again.

There are a lot of jobs open and undoubtedly more to come open. You always look to see what connections an AD has to potential coaches. Mizzou AD was the AD at Houston when they hired Tom Herman.

Having said that, Herman and Justin Fuente will probably be sought after at some of the other Power 5 openings.

Missouri: The school has interest in Houston’s Tom Herman, Memphis’ Justin Fuente and Temple’s Matt Rhule for its head coaching job, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy. Keep in mind that Mizzou athletic director Mack Rhoades hired Herman during his tenure as the Houston athletic director.

Eh maybe. I think this is going to be a rougher hire for them than some of ESPN's tweets makes it sound.

ESPNews's airing of SportsCenter brought on Brett McMurphy to talk about Missouri's hiring to replace a coach like Pinkel. Yes, he mentioned Fuente (because of Odom), Herman (because of Rhoades), and Rhule. He also mentioned that the school's looking for it to be an existing head coach.

But when McMurphy was asked where Missouri stands in relation to a lot of the other high, major level programs looking for coaches, in terms of interest from what one can do, his answer was:

I think one of the positives about Missouri is that it's in the SEC East - it's in the weaker of the two - but unlike South Carolina it's kind of up by itself. It's kind of in the Big 12 footprint and the Big 10 footprint...

It's a challenging job and obviously you're following "the guy"; you don't want to follow "the guy", "the legend", "the winningest coach at Missouri."

I'd put it after USC. I'd put it after Miami. I'd put it after Virginia Tech. There's a number of jobs, so I think the three that we named - Herman, Fuente, and Rhule - those three guys are going to have, I think, a number of opportunities. I'm sure Missouri's hoping that Mack Rhodes's existing relationships with some of those guys will pay off.

The good news is: if you got to Missouri, if you win your division, then you play for the SEC Title. If you win the SEC title, then you're playing for a national championship. A lot of schools can't say that.

They then both noted that Missouri's a good job, very much because Pinkel made it a good job.

But - at least to me - that doesn't sound too confidence-inspirning for them and their search if pretty much all McMurphy had to say that was positive was "they're in the SEC, so if a coach wins that conference they're in the playoffs." That's really not a lot, almost seeming as though the message could be "there are bigger jobs; they're probably not getting the main guys they want."...they may be looking at a deeper hire, and quite possibly a step back.

Don't discount Maryland..I heard the UA dude was prepared to write a big check to get a good coach there

I'm hearing Willie Taggart

I'm hearing Willie Taggart

Willie needs to turn around USF more before he should get a call. Taggart could clean up from a recruiting standpoint at Miami. He's a hell of a recruiter, with FL connections that rivals Charlie Strong and Randy Shannon. If he could keep Broward and Dade kids at home and bring his Tampa/Bradenton pipeline down, he'd make life a living hell for UF and FSU. I'm really surprised he hasn't turned USF around more than he has, considering the job he did at WKU. All that said, I truly think he wants to remain in FL, but I could be proven wrong.

Willie is solid but he ain't Strong or Shannon when it comes to SFla kids.
