The NCAA's penalties are believed to be based on moral violations rather than rules infractions and are linked to its investigation of a lack of institutional control in the way the university handled the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.
Penn State Nittany Lions not facing 'death penalty' Monday by NCAA, source says - ESPN
about to get uglier for Penn State
the university is going to shell out plenty to the victims but its not going to be a situation of "let us sell some tickets and we will give you part." also, every time a program gets punished, more innocent players than not are affected this situation is no different. sucks for the players but you live and die with the program you pick. good chance these kids get the opportunity to walk. All for the statue coming down. If the sanctions are a ban on football, not sure I agree with it. Saban had this right. Lets see what the program can currently do to help victim advocates. Taxing ticket sales, giving some proceeds to the victims, etc. I don't care if the program is financially hurt, but the program shouldn't be restricted from playing. Current players had nothing to do with it.
I am hearing that they could face a 5-10 year bowl ban, loss of upwards of 50 scholarships (over a 10 year period), and will vacate victories over the past decade. The cover up was unprecedented. This is a shot across the bow of schools. Miami is next up.
