NCAA Tourney Running Thread

Does Harrison Barnes remind anyone else of Scotty Hopson?

So gifted, yet looks unmotivated and wildly inconsistent at times, and can't dribble.

That air ball earlier in the game made me do a double take.

Nah, Harrison Barnes can shoot. One of the best midrange games I've seen at the college level in years.

This sucks. The two teams with the best chance at beating KY were both done in largely because they lost a key guy.

don't shortchange Ohio State or Kansas. Both of those teams are deeper than Kentucky. UK won't be able to play run-out ball on Louisville or whomever they may face in the Championship game.

If UK is going to win a title, they'll have to do it in the half court.

In which they are very, very efficient.

Wooo who!!! I got 3 out of 4 going to New Orlens. Stooooopid Missouri just killed me.

Nice!

Talent > Depth in the NCAA Tourney. Kentucky suffered no ill effects from two run-and-gun games this weekend. If it were the SEC tourney, I'd agree, but not in the NCAAT, where you have 48 hours between games. And if you think that Kentucky is less athletic than any of those other 3 teams, you haven't watched much basketball this year.

Any one of the other teams could beat the Cats, but not on athleticism.

Hardwood, and other cat fans, Do you think that next Saturday is the biggest game in cardinal history? It's not even close for ky, but given the Louisville little bro complex, I think a final four win over their hated rival would be biggest win in school history. Even bigger than titles. Thoughts ?

LOL at any Kentucky fan who shows up on volnation.com a week from Monday for a game thread or to look for a post game pat on the back. I cannot imagine waiting 14 years and then choosing the Internet and a rival board at that to spend the evening. There has to be better places to be...NOLA, Woodland Avenue, any bar in the USA, etc.

Well, having won the 2 national titles I don't know that I could classify it as their biggest, from a program standpoint. For most Louisville fans however, I can say with confidence it is the biggest ever for them personally. If this were the title game then it's a no brainer.

You seem a bit more irritated than usual.

Probably have folks over at the house regardless of which commonwealth team is playing. There may even be some middle Tennessee fans there...

As I've thought since the early part of this year, this tourney is Ky's to lose. Louisville will have to play great D and hope some Ky players aren't on to have a chance IMO. Pitino is a good X's and O's coach, but he doesn't have the horses or the offense to win.

I think Ohio St or Kansas will give Ky a much better game. I have no problem with Self and Kansas and I wouldn't mind seeing them winning it out of the four teams. Matta is only good as his talent and I hope Kansas shoves it up his ass.

Not so sure about that and I think Stillman White and UNC beg to differ.

Neither Vandy nor Indiana was more "athletic" than Kentucky, so that's not what you have to worry about.

Kentucky is an amazing team and still undeniably the favorite to win the Championship, but where do you peg your odds? 35%? 40%? Still worse than a coin flip.

Not nearly as efficient as when they are on the run.

Who isn't more efficient on fast breaks? UNC is a team that HAS to run to win, their half court game is average. Look at the Ken Pom stats and other factors, UK's halfcourt offense is one of the top 3 efficient in the nation. A lot of it is attributed to offensive rebounding, but nonetheless it counts. Kentucky can grind it out with the best of them, and that's an objective view, not homerism.

As for our odds in the final (IF we make it) I'd say against KU we are 80%, against OSU it is 60% due to their defense.
