New Arizona Immigration Law

That guy was arrested BEFORE the bill was signed into law. Don't try and use that as proof that the bill will lead to profiling by using an incident that occurred before the bill was even signed into law.

you're right, it only helps my case to prove that profiling happens without the law... when it's truly enacted, just watch out... it's coming!

How can you walk around being so irrational? There are credible arguments against the new law, but you've yet to make any of them.

I think he made a bad argument at the beginning, and now he doesn't want to admit it, because it's already gone too far.

Strong stuff here. How about if profiling is the status quo, then we're keeping that and sending more lawbreakers home.

Hell, if all they have to do is abide by the laws until they've got some form of legal paperwork, it shouldn't be very hard.

Yeah this is one *sigh* that I agree with Big Papa on {kind of ;) } It's easy for those of us more liberal minded to make a blanket cry of "racism" but I stand by my earlier statement.

AZ is trying to handle a situation the federal government has been unwilling to help them with. Their schools, hospitals, and prisons are crowded. - and that costs big $$$

If they have their paperwork it shouldn't be a problem. Every time I go through airport security I have to be screened and show my id; but that doesn't mean they're being racist and think I could be a terrorist.

Sorry I can't support you here CV

How retarded are you? This person was at a weight station, maybe in a commercial truck with Mexican plates, and apparently something was wrong with his paperwork (for the truck or load). Things progressed from there.

You do realize that you are using a commercial for an immigration lawyer looking for business as your "proof" don't you.

BTW, you still haven't responded to my two questions.

This thread still up? I'm convinced Cash is just ribbing us now. No way he can really believe what he is saying. Even the other liberals around here have moved on.

I have absolutely no problem with whats happening in AZ, and what will hopefully follow in TX, now if we could just get California(Good luck) lol.

I mean truthfully, if i'm a Legal immigrant, i have absolutely no problem with an officer questioning me, it's as simple as getting a freaking card out of your wallet for heaven's sake! That and nothing more! Is that really that big of a deal? It's not like they're giving the cops the right to come into your home and rape your wife like they do in Africa. Illegal immigration is a problem and needs to be solved. Call me old fashioned, but if it were up to me, you would also be required to know how to speak English before you could become legal in the first place.

I'm not racist or intolerant of other people's cultures, In fact I usually lean to the liberal side on issues like this. I'm just simply getting sick of a problem that has been going on in this country for way too long. Illegal immigrants should not be able to come into the U.S. and take jobs, housing, and tax dollars away from legal American citizens, regardless of what color they are. The well-being of legal American citizens should be this government's top priority (Ofcourse we know this isn't true anymore), but it's a good start.

If Hispanic cops were pulling over white people for being white, Americans may feel a little different. You can blame the government for letting it get out of hand in the first place. It's sad but I guess it's just the nature that certain people to think that because people look different they don't deserve the rights we have simply because of where the good Lord put us. As long as I'm alive, God put me here to help the ones who are less fortunate than I am. I will never disagree that any one who wishes to live in this country must go about it the right way. I know many people who had to, and the illegals have taken advantage of a lazy system that, honestly, slaps the ones who did it the right way in the face.

I'm just upset that there is a law now, that okays racial profiling. And there are so many people who encourage it. Crazy

you and Cash should get together and read the law and figure out what it actually does. Maybe invite Obama to join you in the reading

Helping those who are less fortunate is fine and encouraged. But it's not fine to just let people wander into our country whenever they want to. We have laws and we can't pick and choose what laws we follow and don't follow.

This law is a great law and it does not profile anyone on race. If someone breaks a law or commits a violation while driving, they will have to show proof they are here legally.

And I think it sucks that I look around and see Americans (or in this case felons) and people like you come around and have to racially categorize people as black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. and refuse to let people live off their own merit.

I have asked cash villian the same thing several times, but he never responds to that challenge. Instead he just comes back with his unreasonable claims that people are going to be profiled here.

ummm they aren't legal citizens and that is why they don't deserve the same rights as legal citizens. you know the whole breaking the law thing. throwing hte skin color in there just shows your racism.

but most are legal citizens...

There are a lot of Hispanics in Arizona: 30% of the population according to the latest census, which is double the rate for the country as a whole. That's almost two million people, legally in the country.. Only 9 percent of those are illegals... that's a 3 to 1 ratio... by the sheer numbers involved profiling is going to happen of LEGAL citizens.

wait and see!

the census doesn't ask is you are legal. how could you possibly know that only 9% are illegal?

What's the ratio of legal Hispanics who commit crimes to illegal Hispanics that commit crimes? Probably less than 3:1.

your math baffles me, as does the census you're quoting.
