Didn't those two teams beat the piss out of UT this year?... Both 8-4..when's the last time UT won 8 games? (hint 2007)....So I don't see how a four star being recruited by teams better than UT is a bad thing..

AL is on top and is able to pick and choose the 5 stars they take.They will chance one or two that are questionable. Although they dont have to chance taking anyone. Right now we need solid players that can be coached up to compete. A&M showed that you can compete in the SEC with 3 star talent if your coached properly.

Yeah johnny football was a 3 star and it worked out. People get to caught up in potential of skills and players traits that heart and good character get lost in the mix. Yeah stars may show potential but they don't show attitude problems or weed smokers. We need some guys with some integrity on this team and I think butch bringing in a bunch of home state kids the first year to right the attitude of the ship is a great idea. Bring kids that dream of smashing heads while wearing orange!!!!!

I would simply contend that whatever system they are using is one we should emulate since they are playing for their 3rd NC in 4 years. Don't piss on the teams that get 5 stars just because we can't.

star ratings are supposed to be a guage of NFL potential and i think are generally pretty accurate, at least more than 50% of the time. they don't take into account ability of college coaches to improve a player and how well a certain type of player thrives in a certain type of system, which could be totally different than a pro style system. the right group of kids with the right attitude coming together at the right time i think can over-ride star rating if they are coached up the right way. i agree that a good solid base is needed more than a few superstars at this point for UT

No one is pissing on anything. Right now AL is pretty much setting the standard for SEC football. They still got outplayed and out coached by lesser talent. That goes to show that the difference in the 5/4 star talent compared to the 3 star talent is really minimal.

There is a reason for the star rating system. It's not for looks. You guys might be happy with 3 stars, the way I see it, nothings changing. Same ole crap. A team full of 3 stars won't beat a team full of 4 stars. THAT IS WHY WE WON 1 SEC GAME LAST YEAR. Yeah, CBJ talks a BIG talk, gets you excited, BUT, HE GETTING SAME RECRUITS DOOLEY WAS. wHEN WE ARE GETTING 4 AND 5 STARS,.. we will be relevant in the east again. Until then, we are gonna get creamed by everybody.

UHHHHH....you did get the memo right??? HE'S A FOUR STAR ON RIVALS (probably the one I trust most)...but at least you're having fun....

And a large group of our recruits playing last year WHERE four star recruits...just to be honest...

Extreme fans, please realize that this is the best start to recruiting that we have had. We have legit in state talent committing to us. Embrace them and lets let them know that we are on our way back. Wharton is a great statement because Dooley would not have gotten him and we are starting to take back the state ( hopefully). Lets go Butch and suck it to all naysayers.

Sorry I do not buy into the star gazing. I will agree that said 5 star has more of an upside. Although it still comes down to coaching. AL 2010 got 16 4 and 5 stars, 2011 17 4 and 5 stars, 2012 17 4 and 5 stars. A&M in the same time frame 2010 9 4/5 stars, 2011 3 4/5 stars, 2012 7 4/5 stars. That is per rivals. AL got the brakes beat off them by A&M this year.

I would love to have all highly rated players on this team. Although you have to look at things realistically. We are coming off of 3 losing seasons in a row. Right now we need the players in here that the coach feels will fit his system. Also you guys blowing this kid up on being a 3 star also understand that he still has his senior year to go. Not to mention that he is listed as a 4 star on another site.

Gruden disciple, How many 5 star high school athletes has Gruden recruited? How many times has gruden beat Alabama? How long will it take you to realize that Gruden is not going to coach at Tennessee, not now or in the future? I suggest that you get over it or become an Alabama fan. You would do UT less harm as an Alabama fan as you are with all your negativity.
