please just got get Petrino, sign him to the strictest morale clause contract in history. He is by FAR the best HC out there including gruden, strong, grundy ...whomever

Well I think Gruden will be the next coach. Especially with Grider stepping down. Probably has been for over a year.

I think Grider would be an annoying recruiting coordinator for the other SEC teams. Since he would be so good at talking and relating to the recruits. We could restock the roster with 5 stars.

I doubt it, but if true, we are setting ourselves up to look even more foolish when Gruden or his agent shafts us again. Even the biggest egomaniac in the world wouldn't give up $4.5 million per year to work 2 days a week to come to this job. Hated I even thought we might have a chance with him in the first place.

Since we can't seem to make any ground on a hiring I would like to make a couple of suggestions and see what the Volnation thinks. These are out of the box, not in the UT Family and would be 4-8 yr. hires I think.

1. Down here in Atlanta we got a guy waiting for a job. Pat Hill OL Coach Atlanta Falcons, Former Fresno State HC. Very stable, known in college football (sure, west coast) But he has fire and took a little school up against the biggest in the nation every thur. night on ESPN.

2. Up in Minn. coaching LBs - Mike Singletary! Coached the 49ers like they were San Fran State and the pros didn't like it. But that fire in Knoxville would be appreciated and expected. Man of SERIOUS Character and desire. I would love WR-U change into LB-U!!!

Forget about getting the Fulmer band back together it is a pipe dream. Don't forget at the end of the Fulmer era, he was struggling with Miles and Spurrier.

I like Pelini. He was a very successful DC at LSU so he knows the league and has a won at Nebraska.

Hue Jackson from Cincinnati would be very good as well.

We are going to get a very good coach when all is said done.

John Chavis. Possibly with Dale Jones as defensive coordinator. I'd take Chief in a heartbeat. A player's coach, incredible recruiter, and a guy who has himself bled on Shields-Watkins Field. No, he wouldn't entertain at his press conferences but who cares? He would win.

We would have won at least four more games this year with Chief as HC. At least.

Now, all you "third-and-Chavis" morons, this is your cue to showcase your immaturity. Have at it.

Ok... I know that i will be hated for this.... BUT...I am hearing rumors that gruden is not done..A well established coach in South Pittsburg suddenly quit and the rumor is that gruden has asked him to be on his staff at Tennessee... Trying to get more info on this one..let you know if i hear anything else
