Next Year Should Be Even Worse

Disagree respectfully. We lose a lot of talent.... but with that goes a lot of losers' mentality.

Another year of CBJs system, another class of his players, another year of changing the culture, a more favorable schedule. I honestly think we finish 4-8 this year. We'll win more than 4 next year IMO. 2016, if Butch is still here, will be the year we finally look like a winning football team worthy of our tradition.

Four wins means that Jones beat no one he should not have beaten and lost two that he shouldn't have.

Just out of curiosity, since you're making predictions, based on your outlook, what kind of recruiting class do you think Butch signs in 2015 or 2016, after years of losing? How many show up to the stadium in 2015 to watch Butch lose for his third straight season? How many season tickets or donations are you planning to shell out for the next 3/4 years to watch us lose, before you expect us to be good again?

Also, weren't you saying 2015 last week? It's already been pushed back a year?

Waiting to see how the Sooners do. How is Utah State's program? Ole Miss replaces Auburn on the schedule. Bama, UGA, Florida and South Carolina are the "biggies" as usual. If the Vols get 8 wins next season, it's good. Don't expect 9 for awhile. UT program has a long way to go. Might be 4-5 years to get competitive. If Jones is still on after 3 years, then we'll see better teams along the way. Takes more than 3 years to improve a program. Dooley couldn't do it but think Coach Jones can.

Takes more than 3 years to improve a program.

Tell that to James Franklin, Hugh Freeze, Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Mark Richt, Bobby Petrino, Gene Chizik, Tommy Tuberville, and every other coach who has been successful in the SEC in the last 20 years.

None of these coaches had to follow a Kiffin/Dooley muddle either.

Agree. Hopefully we get better as the season goes on. I think we will but its hard to project that. All I can do is try to make an educated guess based on what I see right now. I honestly don't see more than 2 more wins at this point. Butch has a history of winning games he wasn't supposed to win "on paper". I hope like hell that trend holds true this year but its hard to count on.

Honestly, having seem a sample size of 1/3 of the season, I only see 2 games I think we can "count on".....South Alabama and Ky. I don't see how we beat Georgia, South Carolina, Bama for sure. Auburn is significantly more talented and playing well. Mizzou will be a tough game on the road. Vandy kicked the crap out of us last year and we have only marginally more talent. Hurts to say, but this is what I see.

You have to look at what and who replaces them.... and get your head out of your rear about how many they should have won last year if not for incompetence at HC and DC.

Right now, the defense is ranked 12th in the sec and the offense is ranked 14th.

Even with my head up my rear, I know that is not the kind of production that coaches weep to see leave campus.

GREAT.... THOUGHTFUL.... INTELLIGENT... response.

If you disagree... then post your disagreement. If it just hurts your feelings to face problems... then perhaps grow up.

Sooo...grow up before I face my problems?...orrr before you hurt my feelings?...oh sjt you're such the riddler!

New O-Line, same QBs, losing a lot on D. Spike's Dad has recruited well, and hopefully this class doesn't bolt, but we are have at least one more season after this of being rotten.

We are losing a mediocre at best DL. That's all.

Look. I really don't mind disagreement. In fact, I enjoy it. I would really love for you to take shots at what I posted... instead of at me.

Sorry for getting defensive. I'm trying to hit a reset button and not shoot sharp barbs out at you guys.

It would do us both a big favor if you decided to debate instead of argue and take meaningless personal shots.

I like you, oregonvol.

Thanks.

I'm not exactly the most popular guy on here, but all I ask is that we try to find some tangible, factual basis for conclusions. I hope Butch Jones succeeds here. But I can't just pretend that he will because "he gets it".

Yes... and would you like to take a guess at what YOUR rankings would be had you played Oregon? I doubt you would give up quite as much yardage or points... but judging from what I saw Saturday... they would have abused you too.

I have far more complaints that I explain too much than I take unnecessary shots at other people. If you can find a place where I took a personal shot at someone unprovoked... I'll apologize for it.

I am working on not being sucked into it even when provoked.

1. Worse than his 2014 class which is unique due to legacies- no shock there. I think a 4-8 season this year, however, drops our 2014 class from presently #2 to top 20. I would guess thst 2015 & 2016 would probably see our classes in the top 25 at best if we having losing seasons each of the next 2 years. However, I do find it both interesting and surprising that during our annual beat down at the hands of Florida, that we got a verbal commit from one of the Top 2015 WR prospects in the country...we'll see

2. If he's still losing in 2015, it'll be his last season and attendance will be accordingly woeful. You pick the number....

3. Season ticket sales and donations will accordingly drop. I will continue to go to 2-3 home games per year, maybe more. By that time I'll have 2 kids/students there.

4. I have said previously that I expect 2015 to be the year that we will be contending for SEC championships... pretty sure I didn't say it last week after the Oregon game debacle. Wasn't feeling to keen in our prospects to win anything soon after that awful performance by the players and coaches.

I'm hoping like hell I'm wrong, but after a 4 game sample this is what I see. This is a low talent, poorly coached team at this point. Your points about coaches winning in year 2 are valid. I'm a huge fan of Butch the guy, Butch the recruiter, Butch the leader of our program at this point.... just haven't seen anything yet to make me be a huge fan of Butch the coach so far. He better beat S Alabama , Mizzou, Vandy and Ky or he's in big trouble this year. I just don't see it right now.

So, after 4 straight recruiting classes in the low half of the top 25 (which should be good enough for about 9th in the SEC, right?), you expect us to suddenly compete with the top teams in 2016? How on earth do you figure that?

I mean, the excuse now is that Butch doesn't have enough talent to compete. How is that going to change in 3-4 years if he is consistently finishing behind everyone else in recruiting?

The good news is that this place is off about 2/3 from the peak Dooley levels of delusional
