Neyland Renovations, what should be next???

Hubbs recently said Neyland renovations would be the "next big project" on campus. According to the Neyland Stadium master plan on the Tennessee Fund website, the next phase would include the following:

1. Renovation of the south and east concourses, restrooms and concession stands
2. Replacement of Gate 10 ramp with stair towers and additional elevator service
3. Creation of Gate 10 entry plaza

While the current plan would be really nice, I wish they would invest in an entry plaza on the river side. There are some outdated engineering buildings there that could be torn down to make the space. River access is one of the most defining features of Neyland, and yet the view from that side is awful. What do you think?

(ps I know why they don't I just wish they did)

Get rid of the jumbotron. I like the crowd in the game. If you wanna watch it on TV, stay home.

standing by for incoming.

we need 3,000 more seats. the terrace is a waste of money. even during the oklahoma game it was not full.

I respectfully disagree, all 1800 seats in the Terrace are sold out, as are the west club and skyboxes. It isn't a waste of money, two of those seats in the Terrace have been ours since it's conception. Whether anyone is in those seats or not, someone has still paid for them. When we make our donations it's a one time thing, donation, tickets and parking passes so Tennessee is getting their money.

Let me know if you aren't going to a game , I will pay for them. I can't pay what they are worth, but it would cover your hotdog bill for a few games. I sat with Tom Hutton's dad for a game in the Terrace, it was a great experience.

And I'm not saying any of this to be disrespectful in any way, that's a great place to watch the game.

Wow, the old VOLS sign atop the stadium is gone!? I haven't been to the stadium in ages. When my father, who played football for UT, took me to the stadium for the first time, when I was a teen, the first thing I saw was the big VOLS sign atop the stadium. That was a thrilling moment for me--I will always remember seeing that sign for the first time.

Improve restrooms in catacombs. And not renovation related but make a dedicated shuttle bus lane for post game.

This may not fit in here..

But As a ticket holder under the overhang, I'd like to see our tv display whatever is on the Jumbotron.. Those of us not in site of it miss out on a lot.

Absolutely it fits in here, under gameday experience upgrade. It gets annoying that those few times they actually do show what's on the Jumbotron that they usually layer a commercial or other graphics over top of it. It's almost like they don't even pay attention or care what they are doing.

Needs to get the seating capacity back up to where it was. That is a big recruiting tool and just for the reputation of school to have the biggest stadium.

1.) Debit card acceptance at all concession stands!

2.) Complete the brick façade all the way around the outside of the stadium! End the erector set look once and for all!

3.) Jumbotron at the opposite end of the stadium.

4.) Either fix the damn grass or switch to the new artificial field turf

I agree about the debit card. It is so easy now for them to have those too, so do not know why they wouldn't. I know they have to pay a small fee each time someone uses it, but people are more likely to spend more when using a card.

I remember asking my dad why is that there?
"we all know who plays here"

Sorry, Iam4utalways, we don't miss any home games but I'll put you on the list of those that want them too. There's really not a bad seat in Neyland. We have enjoyed sitting up there and to us it's been well worth the money. Our seats are on the very back wall so no one much is going back and forth, leg room and a cup holder, LOL .. Like you, it has been a great experience... with the exception of some snotty people who think it doesn't stink and sit there like knots on a log.. Come on people, it's a football game, put your bag of money down and chill with us peasants, LOL ...... There are people that sit in front of us, when I say us I mean our other friends.. when we yell and hoot and holler, do we ever get nasty looks..

People do not realize this but it is a fact. If you would parallel our winning with stadium size ranking you would see just how significant it is.

That should go straight to the bass, skip what starts it now. And for those that don't know it's sad that we have to play a song to get us to get loud against a power house team. I wonder what the players would think if the crowd got loud for NT like it did for OK and GA?

I think the opponents love third down for what. The stadium actually is quieter when they play it and everyone is dancing. All you hear is the bass and little crowd noise.

I think it works well when played at the correct time. The issue is that the DJ or whoever starts it often waits too long to start the song. In general people aren't making much noise while the song is playing, which would be fine if the song stopped a good 20 seconds before the other team starts lining up so that there is time for the crowd to get loud. But often the song plays until the other team is lined up and has their checks in.

Mic up Smokey and then uncover a live raccoon on a short tree trunk to get him to go crazy whenever there is a third down. That would freak the visitors out the first time we did it.
