They have three options for PM to throw to before the pick. I will go with history as they are not many 35 year ols wrs that can hold up over the entire season and playoffs. MH was almost a non-factor in the playoffs. The Colts use small speedy wrs and Gonzalez is a perfect fit.
Dungy and Polian are masters at finding guys later in the draft to plug in the defense.

Also the Colts D played much of the season without Bob Sanders. They played great in the playoffs amd can find a smaller speedy lb later just as easliy as a wr.
Marvin Harrison is never a factor in the playoffs. He's still one of the best WRs in the NFL. When Harrison is being double covered, Manning just finds, Wayne, Clark, Utecht, Addai, or somebody freaking else. That offense is always going to be fine. They need help on defense, where injuries have really hurt them recently. The most significant injury they've had on offense lately was Brandon Stokely. That didn't slow the Colts down at all.
I thought Dungy was a master of finding guys to plug in? Why did they suck so badly when one guy went down? They need help on defense. You're making my point for me. Even if Marvin Harrison went down, the Colts would still be adequate on offense. They are really close to be horrible on defense.
Look at the playoffs. The Colts offense was not good. PM made plays when he had to. In the long term, depending guys like Fletcher, Moorehead and Addai recieving when the Colts don't have a good rb to take the load off of him will get you beat. The Colts D won them the 1st and 2nd rounds.
The Pats offense was fine to until the playoffs when they needed more options at wr and had none which is why they upgraded. Deepending on below avg. guys to step up over the long haul will get you beat.
You can't compare the Colt's situation at WR and the Pats. Wayne will be 'go to' for at least a few more years, in my opinion. They are picked just now at 42 and Jarrett was available and Gonzalez may have been available.
I agree with you for the most part but Wayne is a great #2, without MH he wouldn't be as good.
Jarrett doesn't fit their system though.
They don't need another safety. They need another player that can stop the run. The fact that Sanders is relied on so much for that task tells me the front 7 isn't good enough.
