NFL or Bust??

I don't realistically want a team full of 3 stars, I don't really care what their star ratings are, but high character guys no matter how talented will usually lay it on the line before someone with problems will.

I think he doesn't say that very often, if ever really. I think he understands that staff can only do so much to get you there, it's more about personal desire to become great that gets you over the top. I think he just wants kids to come to UT because of UT. NFL is just a reward of that hard work.

They can coach them, teach them, and encourage them EVERYDAY, but if the prospect thinks that his talent alone will get them to the NFL, then they are going to fall flat on their face.

See the contradiction?

I'd much rather have a team full of 3 stars that lay it on the line, than a team full of 4 and 5 stars that only come to play half the time. The 3 stars will always prevail in this scenario.
That is the silliest post in some time here.

Both posts are about the prospects taking it upon themselves to become the NFL type player they want to, if not they won't make it on talent alone. What contradiction are you talking about?? The one you are trying to spin in there like usual??

Coaches have nothing to do with developing talent but guys that expect to get by on talent alone will fail.

That makes no sense at all.

If they have character, there is a higher chance they will have the personal desire to maximize their abilities which could possibly be a spot in the NFL. If a 4 or 5 star kid thinks he has it all already and doesn't have to work as hard to get where he wants, those 2 and 3 stars will pass him up within 3 or 4 years of college.

Is pointing out Tebow performing circumsions seems odd for a guy that didn't pursue a degree in the medical field?

Eric Berry succeeded because he had personal drive, Morley failed, not because he wasn't just as talented, but because he didn't have the desire and drive Berry did.

Ok, here's the crayon explanation....

If they think that they can just coast through on their talent and not work as hard as the next guy, they won't make it in the NFL, let alone till their senior years. Coaches want talented players, but they don't want lazy talented players who don't set a good example for those kids who are are trying to work their butt's off and get somewhere, on the field and off.

I would love to watch, for example, Clinton Portis or Jermemy Shockey read this thread. They would be laughing so hard they'd puke blood.

So it's all on the athlete and not on the coaching staff to motivate a player?

Absurd

I wish Tebow would've played here. I hated his guts when we played them, but if we would've had a player with half the passion he had for the past couple of years, we wouldn't be on our 3rd coach in 3 years.

Bull.

Berry was faster, smarter and a much better tackler.

What? You're saying the difference at Florida between what Meyer and Zook got out of the same guys isn't simply that some magic inner light came on for those guys when the coaching change happened? That's crazy.

It was Tebow's 11 plays on the season that won UF that title. Let's give credit where it's actually due so we can falsely proclaim him the best collegiate player ever.
