So because he won a NC in the past makes going 6-6 and losing to Lousiana-Monroe ok? Seems like more of a reason to expect more.
Lame. Shameful. Sad.
Anytime I start to question or doubt this staff I come on Volnation and see some of the most idiotic comments ever made and it only strengthens my suppport for Butch Jones. There have definately been some things that make me shake my head wondering wtf is going on but ive never went into full tard mode like some people on this site. Trying to downplay his past accomplishments is just ridiculous. At each of his previous stops the 3rd year was his best, thats not exactly using Kellys players. Im done defending what doesnt need to be defended.
I wouldn't say it makes it okay, I just think it gets a coach the benefit of the doubt when he has that kind of resume. Yes, it would make one expect more, I agree, but it also would cause most fans to look at the entire body of work and remain optimistic about the future.
Having said that, I don't think Saban's first year is relevant one way or the other. Every coach is in a unique circumstance. I tend to think Butch will be fine at UT, but I don't base that off of what any other coach has done in year one. I think this year was about as most reasonable fans expected, but I am disappointed in Saturday and think the coaches lost that game. Doesn't mean I don't support them going forward.
I know you didn't ask me, just my opinion:hi:
